right, so we all know that there are many circumstances, what i want to know is, what is the best dps build for the one i consider most important, which is the raid boss, so basically the best 50% fort dps build. In addition, raid bosses are considered for the main purpose of this argument to be Evil Outsiders (velah is the only notable one i can think of that isnt one)

not absolutely sure, but i think these are contenders:
13 rogue/ 6 barb/ 1 rgr
12 ftr/ 6 barb/ 2 rog
12 ftr/ 7 rog/ 1 rgr
12 barb/ 7 rog/ 1 rgr
20 rog
12 ftr/6 pally/ 2 mnk

and the like, unsure which one really comes out on top tho :/

I'd add 11ftr/7 pally/ 2 mnk to contenders with Khopeshes high DPS at any lvl of play :D

out of curiousity why not 12/ 6/ 2? i dont think 7th pally gives more then 12th fighter...

Out of all my toons. I would say that my Dwarven dual dwarven axe wielding 13 rogue/6 barb/1 ftr owns most battles vs mobs and bosses...

Post Update 9, an ungeared Air or Cold Savant will out-DPS epic-geared melees by just keeping Niac's Biting Cold and Eladir's Electric Surge at 3 stacks each, plus keeping up their elemental damage amplification curse and using their better SLA's.

1 ftr adds a feat and str point... Trust me .. I debated weeks on that last level...12 rogue and + 6 barb were a must.. The stat nerf ruined the 13 rogue for me... 7 barb added more attack damage... Ultimately it was the feat and str point that pulled me over....

i have a 12f/6p/2m and imo would be better than 11f for the simple reason of getting kensai 2...but to each there own, watevers clever ;)

This (20 rogue): http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=309669 (actually the half-orc version of this)

Fighter *2* gets the strength enhancement -- Unless the feat is absolutely vital you could always grab Ranger 1 for the 3 damage to Evil Outsiders.

nope, good dps yes, top dps maybe, best dps dont think so.
also, im considering the base build, not the weapons, weapons change, builds dont.

(so im basically assuming the same weapons for every build)

You can't divorce the weapon from the build.

yep, basically what im doing. A build should not depend on a weapon IMO. Heavy picks, for example, are being effectively nerfed. SoS might be nerfed again, khopeshes might be nerfed, an awesome rapier might come out, weapons change, the new weapon type: Naginata might suddenly become the thing, anything might happen.

not to mention that weapons are not always obtainable.

Accordingly, i want to look at raw statistics, which build adds the most damage to the base weapon? is my question

Weapon choice matching a build is critical to the question. You cannot separate the two. Attempts to do so will lead to flawed build decisions.

At the current time, however, it is difficult to beat a STR rogue with khopeshes without aggro.

Based on that criteria it's rogue with pure paladin as second for evil bosses. They are the only classes with significant damage that bypasses Dr.

1) Roll and properly gear a 2hf, pure capped 20 barb, for a player with adequate skill, knowledge, and ability

2)??????

3) Profit!!!!!

similar geared popular melee builds are close enough damagewise to let you freely choose what fits your style best.

best/max dps is circumstancial and veeeeeery gear dependent.

for a pure boss beatdown its imo 60% gear, 30% build and 10% player that determines the damage done.

yeah i imagine that all the builds will want to have the best possible weapons, but this is not always the circumstance, if you reaallly want to include gear, then all the twf have two epic chaosblades, and all the THF have a eSoS

id prefer just assuming they all have min IIs or something...
