ddo wiki says the fvs capstone stacks with WF DR enhancements and feats....

can anyone break down exactly what DR stacks and what doesnt?

A WF FvS can get up to DR 15/adamantine passively:

10 capstone
2 adamantine body feat
1-3 WF DR enhancement I - III

One of the drawbacks of adamantine body is its 35% ASF which makes UMD'ing scrolls kinda meh.

WF DR cost 2 + 4 + 6 = 12 AP which is kinda steep.

Passive DR is *really* sweet though.

Items can raise it even higher than 15.

As can feats although it's doubtfull anyone would actually use then to do so (although leveling up early on it could be more useful to take extra DR feats then THF for instance).

To be honest it's not even worth the third enhancement bonus. Tier 1 and 2 costs 6 ap only and gives you DR 14....which is plenty. An extra 1 point of DR isn't going to make any difference.

I could be argued that once you actually get your nat 10 DR...it's worth it to drop the adamantium feat all together. With 2 enhancements (6 AP) you'll hit 12 DR at that point and honestly AC is no longer going to matter.

Running with Adamantium plating sure helps through the early levels, but it's really the first 5 points of DR that are the most important. By the time you hit 20 it's not likely your AC is going to matter as a FvS at all anymore and 2 extra DR alone isn't worth the feat (and drop in skills).

That seems kind of badass....anyone have a link to a fvs/wf build?

If you were to scroll down the builds page just a little bit, you'd certainly see one!!

16 DR/adamantine is the highest persistent, passive DR which you can get as a WF FvS with adamantine body, improved damage reduction feat and the full line of enhancements:
10 capstone
2 adamantine body feat
1 improved damage reduction feat
3 WF DR enhancement I-III

I have a Soul Survivor (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=268346) which is WF FvS with 15 DR/adamantine (missing improved damage reduction feat as it would be overkill) and I love it. I tweaked the build slightly starting with higher intelligence (to take intimidate) and swapping extend spell for adamantine body. I'm very happy with the 2 extra points of DR and I am sure that they make a significant different. I think it is certainly a better choice than extend spell but that is more to taste. I also tweaked the feat order as I wanted to have improved critical: slashing, power attack, maximise and quicken spell by level 12.

The spell failure chance when UMD'ing is a bit annoying but I have an arcane sigil docent and I may put an AP into reducing ASF by 5%. Then I only need 7 fingered gloves to reduce ASF to just 10% or 5% with double ASF reducer on DT.

I'd definitely say that the Soul Survivor is pretty much a perfectly optimal approach to a WF FvS and is excellently versatile.

I am pretty sure you can take the improved dr feat more than once...like toughness.

Technically, you can take Improved Damage Reduction as many times as you have feat slots...so up to 21 static is possible.

Though that character would be horribly gimp.

Never knew, I stand corrected.

Makes an interesting option for a WF Fighter. Could happily dedicate ~5+ feats towards DR giving a possibly ~10/adamantine DR at level 20 without horribly gimping the character.

Actually, I only know because I know someone who did that.

It's still pretty gimp though.

Improved Critical, Power Attack, CE, Dodge, Weapon Focus, Weapon Specialization, Greater Weapon Focus, Greater Weapon Specialization, Superior Weapon Focus, TWF/THF chain, Khopesh Prof, Stunning Blow, Improved Trip, Toughness, and that only leaves one left (Addy body for the armour bonus).

I honestly can't see dropping 6 of those.

CE, dodge, improved trip, khopesh proficiency (this is an eSoS wielder) could all go. That leaves 12 feats above + ady body + 4x improved DR for a full DPS + 9/adamantine DR eSoS wielding fighter. Or did I miss something? Why is dodge listed up there? Improved trip/CE can be done without though obviously they are nice.

You could even take 2 monk and keep same DR while being defensively centered.

Real question is how much of a difference there is between 5 and ~10 DR. Personally, I find 15 DR to be absolutely amazing.

My bad, I was thinking from a tank build perspective. I guess I just had it on the brain. (Though in fairness, the build I knew with all those improved DR feats was a "tank".)

Though for a Kensei I'd throw in things like Skill Focus: UMD, Quickdraw, and probably a couple extra Toughness feats before Improved DR.

I think it would depend entirely on how much you were main-tanking, and if you were an AC build or not.

And if you weren't an AC build, you're main-tanking, and you're Warforged, why not just wear the DoD at this point? No feat investment and a higher DR anyway.
