If you have a Doublestrike effect on a shield and a doublestrike effect on a weapon in your main hand, each with a 6% chance is that equal to two separate chances for a doublestrike???
Or is it only one doublestrike at 6%?

The shield is now considered a weapon as in if that is what you have equipt it will shield bash only so they wont stack as to another item I am not certain.

AFAIK:
ALWAYS - like bonuses do not stack (+2 dodge and +2 Dodge do not stack).
SOMETIMES - Only the highest bonus applies (+2 dex item and +4 Dex spell only give you +4 dex total. For some reason though, +2 Dodge AC and +3 Dodge AC would give you +5 dodge AC)
So I would say the answer to your specific issue is: no. A much more interesting question is does a +6% doublestrike item stack with a +4% doublestrike item (if one exists) or not?

The description of doublestrike seems to apply the effect to your main hand weapon.
Anyone use the shield, without shield bashing, and have the doublestrike effect happen?
I imagine it would be extremely difficult to "Test" whether two items are proc'ing doublestrike as separate 6% checks (as 6% chance can happen many times in a row or in a series .. but over time averages out to 6%. I suppose if you tested it several hundred times and it came out greater than 6% that would be some thing) ... was wondering if the developers spoke of it.

I tested the Smallblade in mainhand and offhand with 3 different sources of doublestrike (opportunist, wind stance, item). I didn't check two items together but it looked like they were NOT independent rolls, i.e. I never got a triple strike on mainhand. Also, since it only applies to mainhand, I imagine it doesn't stack.

It is? Dammit! That's the mantra I was told to learn. Ok. Which like bonuses stack, and I'll amend my mental notes?

Items don't usually stack with items, unless they're specifically marked as different types of bonues (IE: Exceptional, Enhancement).

So does the doublestrike apply if you have the smallblade in your off hand, or does it need to be in the main hand?

And what happens if you have a Tier 2 Epic Smallblade in one hand and a Tier 1 Epic Smallblade in the other? Is that 9% Double Strike or just 6%?

Yes. Makes it hard to daze some things when it proc's on a crit, but still workable.

Offhand Smallblade will produce mainhand doublestrike procs.

Question one: does the shield proc doublestrike on the main hand when not shield bashing: Yes!
I say this with the caveat that it was on a capstoned fighter, but I was seeing a significantly higher number of doublestrikes when tanking with the shield vs my Levik's. Also some other "interesting" effects as well.
Question two: tier x in one hand, and tier x+1 in the other: nope, they wont stack, as they are from the same item source, only the better applies.
Which leads me to my question of: how does doublestrike from different sources stack? additively? multiplicative? I'm doing testing on my own, but I have such a small data set at the moment. Inspire Recklessness is defined as a morale bonus, but the new event items dont have such a classification I can find.

Thanks for the links.
I am not thinking that the two equipped items Stack, making it +12%. But two independent 6% chances. Since the two 6% chances can happen on the same swing, the total chance would be closer to 9% to 10% (just guessing ... my stat calculator has a function to figure this out ... but that begs the question at bar)
But the shield is interesting because as has been said, Doublestrike only effects the main hand weapon which the shield is not. So the shield gets a roll independent of swinging with it, it would seem.
Has anyone checked this? Have you equipped the shield and swung with a weapon (not a Doublestrike) and had the doublestrike effect occur?

I would *guess* that *IF* they did stack (which BTW I very much doubt :p), then it wouldn't be along the lines of x% + y% +z% ; but rather x% * 1.y% * 1.z%
Let's be generous and say x = y = z = 6
This formula would yield 6.74% doublestrike with three sources, instead of 6%. With two, that's 6.36% instead...
AWESOME !!!! (swoons) :p

wrong wrong wrong
Actually I think you need to qualify each one of those wrongs because for the most part he is correct correct mostly-correct.
Like bonuses don't stack - almost always correct
Sometimes only the highest bonus applies - also correct
Dodge bonuses are odd and disimilar numbers stack but the same numbers don't stack - correct except for a very few special cases.
So dodge +1 from the feat stacks with +1 dodge from shield alchemical ritual and +1 from armor alchemical ritual. Because they are considered special cases by the devs. However non-crafting bonuses on items don't stack, you only get +3 dodge from two chattering rings for example.
Anyone put the greater nimble trinket +1 dodge, on while wearing the non epic mabar cloak with +1 dodge? Interested to see if that stacks, I would guess not (based on the chattering ring) but never know with new stuff.
