Upgrading Smuggler's Rest Stuff Question

If I upgrade a Level 16 tier 3 to level 20, does it become tier 1 again, or does it stay tier 3.

I would like to know as well. I suspect that no one is willing to waste the green shards experimenting, though, so it may be hard to confirm one way or the other.

Taking an item up in level resets the tier back to 1.

So your L16 Tier3 item would reset to L20 Tier 1.

Yep, and I wish I had waited for that response instead of wasting a day's worth of work finding out the hard way. Oh well. I'm thinking my epic item wishlist is deeply unrealistic. I'll be lucky to get one fully upgraded and a fully upgraded hat at this point. The content is fun, but it has to be repeated way too many times to get the good stuff. I don't mind that it takes effort, but it would be nice if there were 2-3 quests so that you don't do the same one over and over and over and over.
