I don't pike...I keep an eye out for other enemies that people are not fighting.


No, but seriously:
"Piking" refers to the practice of entering a quest, not doing anything, and then reaping the rewards that follow when the rest of the party does the work. It may or may not be related to Commander Pike.

Some individuals have become highly skilled pikers, to the degree where it is difficult to tell whether they are piking or actually contributing to the party. Especially barbarians. Usually the best response is to throw down a grease and set them on fire, unless they are bards, in which case you can criticize their art.
