Cove dagger and cunning trinket stack?

Do the imp max I and imp max II from these two items stack? (I assume no, but event gear is often unique.)

AFAIK, different tiers of improved metamagic mods stack. For example, I can confirm that Extend I from Skiver and Extend II from Gloves of the Glacier do stack. So, it would stand to reason that it works for the event items as well. However, I don't have an upgraded trinket on me so I can't test it out right now.

They don't stack (it's also "efficient metamagic max" so not improved, which may be why?).

They dont, much to my chagrin after wasting the shards to make a cunning trinket. I dont know why I thought it WOULD stack. Just a stupid moment I guess. Now I guess I'll make a spyglass. At least its a use for my now useless trinket.

You need a greater cunning trinket to upgrade the dagger to Tier 3, which gives Superior Potency VII.

yeah some people is doing the trinket only to tier 2, having other gear for max II, but is fine to keep if u have the shards.
the trinket is lv 4 and BtA so can use it on TRs and alts and max I would be fairly usable when you don't want to wield the lv 6 staff that gives max II, forgot its name.
in the end you may still use the trinket for the sp alone so won't matter if u have tier 3 or not on it.

the question that bugs me is, does it stack with the wizard capstone?
