Indeed - I'd love to see some of the vocalizations expanded to other quests - for instance, with the number of pirate minotaurs there, surely some of the VOs can be crossed over into Three Barrel Cove?

I hope DDO does more voiceovers and lets them permeate through current quests. I know just having that voice acting really picks things up and almost makes it a brand new game in terms of enjoyability. I can only imagine a fully voiced over Shroud (complete with some unexpected humor ;-) )

I just love how *Excited* they are when the get their crystals back to the foreman. theres a bunch of different lines ("I did it, i diiiid it!", "Kobold beat the odds, Kobold make it back safely!"), but you can just feel the palpable excitement of them winning at their own little game XD

This quest is THE FUNNIEST QUEST and most enjoyable one I have run in a long time.

First combat is secondary to finding the right path to the greatest gem piles.

The One Liners are brilliant, whoever made these up deserves a raise, do you have that Turbine A BIG RAISE!!!!

I am hoping we see more along this line of quests, the lemmings philosophy is fun.

The Kobold Union has been a theme throughout the Lordsmarch Plaza series as well. There's a Kobold standing on a soapbox giving a "Power to the People" speech in Undermine, and his list of demands is awesome.

The Marilith from In the Demon's Den (the f2p Inspired Quarter quest) always cracks me up, too.

The great sense of humor is something I really enjoy about DDO. Kudos.

We are totally willing to go back and buff old items and we did so with Catacombs (as was also mentioned in this thread), so when time can be made we intend to do it with other quests too. I'm aware of TBC's total lack of named treasure and that's at the top of my list for a loot pass when possible.

I kind of wondered when the timer for a D-Door was changed to 30 seconds as part of the 8.1 (Event) update why they were changing D-Door.

Needed to turn up my sound, but I believe the Kobolds even have some special scripting for when they see ' the pretty door'...

I hope they use that tech to have mobs start using D-Doors!!! :eek:

In my last run in the Cove, I heard one of them say this. I started laughing and then I tohught, "the little ingrates, I will show you" so I picked up their healing torch. :D

They went from being happy to shouting "not the face, not the face" as they got attacked . I got hit by that boss Wraith with the sword in his back, very cool, and the boss bugbear with the magic at the same time. He hit me with 8 negative levels on my 10th level monk. Wasn't ready for that one lol

Glad there was only a few seconds left so I let the bosses chase those kobalds around and just laughed at them...ingrates :D

It happens at the same time as the "not afraid of the dark" one -- when they're suddenly far from any torches (usually because you just picked the torches up to force them to go somewhere else). I think they're saying they can smell their way home. :)

I don't think, it's more fast paced. I mean the music that start as soon as you enter, with the four beats at the start.

Tha main theme of 3BC is heard during the event, is a slow ballad with a main tune played by an accordion.

Yeah, actually the music is my favorite part of the event and I love it all. I enjoy relaxing to the music and it makes the public area not seem like a grind as I'm grinding treasure map pieces.

Also love the treasure map mechanism where only you can find the chest and open it.

Overall just a terriffic event, very well done turbine!

To be honest, I think these kobold quotes are what make the Crystal cove run enjoyable vs another grind... even after the 12th run, some of the things they say still make me smile... Don't know if I'd enjoy it as much without this part of it.


Now I wonder at how many hours of brainstorming and laughing it took to come up with so many.... almost sounds like it would have been a great meeting to attend...

What I love about the kobolds is the way the AI captures their abject stupidity. I remember a couple of runs where time is running out and we're almost to the 200 extra quota and one of the players is shouting at the kobolds 'Pick up the crystal', and then 'No, not the green one!' and 'Come on, click the teleporter you stupid kobold!'

It's a fabulous example of setting expectations. I mean, a hireling human cleric swims through lava, and the AI is broken. But if a hireling kobold cleric swam through lava, well, that's to be expected... Stupid kobold. Coyle goes and aggroes everything in the room, he's ********. Kobold Coyle? Why _wouldn't_ he go around grabbing aggro? He's a dumb kobold!


IMO If all of the hirelings and 'bots' in game were replaced with kobolds, the AI would switch from 'broken' to 'amazing'.

If you have some time after getting to 200 and round up all of the torches, the nonstop din arising from all of the kobolds being clustered at the foreman is hilarious.

Huge props to Turbine for a fantastic event.
