It seems that my copper dubloons are ALWAYS the bottleneck for everything I need to do in the cove...

Anyone else having this problem?

From map pieces I usually have plenty of them.

Silver is where I'm getting hung up.

I wish they would have had some kind of exchange method 100 cop = 10 sil = 1 gold or something

Farm moar gems. Next time the cove opens, grab a hireling, go in there and go to town on the skellies. Leave the kobolds to die.

How much do the low level gems sell for pyrite/alabaster? Anybody know? (Can't get IG right now to see)

if you are level 20, go into level 25 dungeons and get a few diamonds/emeralds. Then trade in like, 5, problems all solved.

Hmm...I've got about 150 extra of each gem currently...didn't realize there was a trade in for dubloons from gems?

whats the trade in rate (at work currently and can't login to check)?

edit - each gem = lvl 20 gems

1 gem = a turdload of dubloons. I forget the exact number but it's imbalanced high.

Theres no point to farming dubloons in the public area. Turn in cove gems for them and get 20x the dubloons.

Yes there is, get them map pieces so the cove reopens faster. Yarrrrr.

Yeah, my block points are dragonshards and copper, never gold, silver or gems.

Search the box for 'trade'.

1 Diamond or Emerald = 200cp, 100sp, 50gp
1 Ruby or Sapphire = 120cp, 60sp, 30gp
1 Topaz or Amethyst = 60cp, 30sp, 15gp
1 Amber or Obsidian - 30cp, 15sp, 5gp
1 Alabaster or Pyrite = 30cp, 15sp, 5gp

TY werk! I have been wondering this since I can't get IG right now to check.

I've actually considered doing this and then recalling out/reforming when I get ready to farm the low level gems for certain items. I think you could very quickly kill the groups of undead while ignoring the harder to kill named/hobgoblins. Maybe 5 minutes to run it, recall/repeat. For anyone bottlenecked on the doubloons or the gems it would be a fast way to remove that bottleneck as you could do many runs in each 40 minute window instead of just 2.

I was favor farming for a bit last night and, on a whim, decided to pick up a Pirate's Grog. Dumped into Kobold Assault and was astonished at the coin / map drop rate. Works well in Butcher's Path and I think you get more kills / min there than in Assault (5 - 6 min for... 80ish kills? Rinse, repeat.). Normal to Hard seemed to make no difference in drop rate or what was dropped.

I think in about 45min I came out with 1750 or so copper, 800 or so silver, and 150 or so golds. I also netted 310 maps which added significantly to the overall coin total. I think I ended up netting over 2800 coppers.

I've not been in the Cove itself so I can't compare numbers to gem farming.

I might try this, I've picked up 3 grogs.

Does anybody know if the pirate hat bonus of dubbloon dropping % would still be in effect if you were running butchers path with the hat on and drank grog?

Forgot to mention that I had the hat on for the last 30min of the runs. I'm not sure it made any difference but it didn't hurt, so I went with it.

the highest gems are 200 copper, 100 silver, 50 gold

The next ones down are 120 copper I think.

I actually have more gold then anything currently. Since the lowest tier 20 stuff takes like 1200 copper (and no gold).

Good to know. Appreciate the info a lot, I'm low level and was having a hard time collecting when there were higher level guys around. Think I'll go rerun that quest with the grogs I've got tonight.

a base lvl 20 item to full upgrade is 2200 shards or 8 runs. that is @4 hours work and you sell those excess gems to get real + Dubloons. seriuosly I net @ 100+ gems per run.

I've been running the 200 kobold kill quests with a grog enabled (had 3, must get more) and came out with a ton of map pieces and coins. While under grog why kill in the open zone there when you can get 200 kobolds in about 10 mins and it lasts for 60 mins :) I'm wearing the 35% hat all the times and a few runs and they rack up, coins, that is.

Rinse and repeat as stated..

Grab a pirate grog (allows other in-game humanoid mobs to drop event items) and go run Kobold invasion a couple of times. I was averaging 50 map pieces, 500 copper, 200 silver and 75 gold dubloons per run on normal with a lvl 6 Sorc.

I did kobold assault and butchers path a few times with the grogs I had. Pretty sick amount of coin and maps for little effort. Beat trying to farm the heavily camped island. Plus you get some xp and loot along the way.

Definitely the way to do it!

Still always short on friggin silver though! lol GRRR!

No actually. To get map pieces you should go to buy a Grog (by turning in a gem for doubloons) and then go clear a lowbie dungeon full of kobolds, hobgoblins, or humans. That'll produce more map pieces per minute than Smuggler's Rest. (That might not necessarily be the case for low-level characters, who get different spawns in Smuggler's Rest)

Also remember to use Grog during Crystal Cove, so you'll get map pieces from Hobgoblins to reopen CC faster.

I had a shortage of copper dubloons, after blowing about 60000 of them on the two types of elemental summoning gems.

The only thing better than pulling out an Air Elemental in a level 4 quest - is pulling out a Water Elemental in the same quest.
