DDO should have an xp bonus for full groups. 20 percent would make it worthwhile. We all know how difficult pugging can be and it would make partying worth it. With twinked out TR characters soloing is much faster and easier than pugging.
This game in the beginning was designed for group play. Now with all the TR'S and hirelings the pendulum is heading in the solo game direction. DDO needs to nudge the pendulum back in the other direction. I for one might join a pug and enjoy the train wreck if I received a 20 percent bonus. This would help make up for the bonuses lost due to poor play and the more experienced players would be helping the new players.
I'm sure some people will figure a way to exploit it, but if you make it, only player based characters and no one can have an xp penalty to get the 20 percent bonus. This should help on the exploits.
People can still solo they just won't get the bonus xp.

Sounds good to me. I'll go into a quest with 2 of my TR friends, and we will all dual box lvl 1 mules that sit at the entrance. Woot 20% exp, and no -10% death penalty!

Sure! I buy 5 of the level 1 hirelings from the DDO store, invis them at the beginning in a safe spot, and get a free 20% XP boost! Completionist here I come!

OR, proceed to pike you new shroud runners up EXTRA FAST during this life with the help of a 20% bonus. I like the idea, but exploit has already been found.

Sounds good for turbine - will those mules be on extra VIP-accounts or will you buy all packs for them?

There is enough experience out there already...no need to add this.

You might infact get that death penalty, and complete the quest 20% slower.
Because adding 3-5 people to a dungeon defeintely scales up to be more then 20% harder.
I think this is a great idea.
Only people who are doing a /not signed - ARE the insane TR grinders like lithic who have have done a trillion lives and want to do another trillion as easy/fast as possible, and they fully realise soloing is easier due to the broken scaling and the incentive to now group with pugs (-10% xp when they inevitably die)
But yea should not work if you have lots of hirelings. Perhaps have it work with 5 players in a dungeon, regardless of the 6th spot being a real player or a hireling (or empty), to allow groups who may need a certain class to fil the spot with hireling without penalty.
Alternate solution could be to simply disable solo scaling for TRs (all dungeons behave as if 6 people are in them). Then they would defintely want to be grouping more often.
Personally even if that was an option i'd enable it, scaling sucks.. I'd prefer the additional challenge.

Could simply reduce all quests XP by 20%, and enable the bonus. Resulting in the same levleing speed.
Not like they haven't done this before with the other new bonuses.

Why is choice a bad thing? Why should people who like soloing, prefer soloing, or don't regularly solo but feel like it at any given moment be penalized?

The choice is good.
The fact that veterans/TRs are ENCOURAGED not to group is a very bad thing.
And they are encouraged not to do so for several reasons now:
-10% xp when the pugger inevitably dies mens they level slower.
Dungeon significantly harder to complete due to scaling, yet no guarentee the pug party member you recruited will pull their weight to balance that out.
the -10% thing could be fixed by simply not awarding it if your solo. Perhaps have that only work with 3 players in the dungeons.
Dungeon scaling i fear will remain broken forever, and would need an a complex solution like this one suggested.

Why is this encouragement a bad thing again? I don't pug because I like my friends and if one is to log on, I want to be able to invite him to group. Furthermore, I am not a teacher and expecting me to teach people is dumb. I get tired of this **** where people think that I am expected to group with people I do not know. I got to run with other good players because when given the very few opportunities to run with them, I took full advantage of the situation. If you find yourself in TR only party, you should consider yourself lucky to get the opportunity to prove yourself. /rant off

Actually shade my groups are always full (well except litany runs, pugs are never flagged). My leveling partner is obsessed with filling out all the spots, so we rarely have any open ones. It probably would be easier to level without them, but it would be much less fun.
