Okay, so the fellow at the entrance says to kit the mummy to the east and make it vulnerable with light.

Not so easy when you're duoing just above lvl.

Can he be killed without doing this? If so, what works best? We are a twf ranger/fighter and a warchanter mechanic.
I can't remember seeing weapons with light damage, so that's likely out.

He also casts some fear based spell that my ranger always succumbs to, is there a preventative for that one?

Do we just unlight the lights, then pound on the guy? The kiting wasn't fun. Got him to the room, then he ate our hires and we died.

The official way to kill the mummy is to

1. Turn off all the lights
2. Return to the beginning to get him out of his coffin
3. Lead him to the east side, and get him inside the cage
4. Climb the ladders to the top of the cage, and hit both switches at the same time (roughly)
5. The light will remove his invulnerability - jump down and kick the snot out of him.

However, I prefer to stay at the beginning and use scorching ray (wall of fire won't hurt him), but I'm partial to wizzies :D

To avoid the fear, use Greater Heroism (either scroll it with UMD or get some Planar Girds), or a Reaver's Ring (both gird and ring drop in the Xorian Cipher)

I used to use the method of kiting him to the light room as well. Lately (in the last several months), I just DPS him in the entry room. I did this last week with a level 8 Ranger mix and a cleric hireling. He went down very quickly using nothing more than dual blade of the inquisitions.

I actually find it to be far more difficult and painful to try and kill him the intended way.

I haven't run this in a while but I believe he is vunerable even back at his spawn point, at least the last time I ran it he was. If I recall correctly, fire works best against him. What the groups I've done it with usually do is have someone use fireball/scorching ray, that usually does the trick. Since your group doesn't currently have a wizard/sorc I would get flaming burst weapons for your ranger and maybe wands of fireball/scorching ray for your bard, assuming he's been investing in UMD.

As for the fear, the only thing I can think of that might help is drinking a remove fear pot before you face him for the morale bonus to save vs. fear. Not sure if that will be enough to prevent it though.

*edit - the above regarding Greater Heroism is definitely a better option (immunity to fear) if you have a way to cast it. Your bard could probably use the scroll if he doesn't have the spell yet.

At level and trying to actually get kite him into the "light" area, and getting him to stay in the center long enough to get the light on, is kind of a pain. Hope this helps. Good luck.

As previously stated 'Wall of Fire' does not hurt him BUT fireball does!. My wizzie got purple numbers when tossing fireballs at him on elite and had no problem killing him at his coffin.
You can try using weapons that does Fire damage.

In my experience (as others have said) most of the time it is far easier to just take him down where he spawns.

I would suggest trying to take him out there and if you find your dps is too low then try to take him to the far east....however, I have never found the need to do so on any character on normal difficulty.

The first tick of WoF seems to work. I normally just pile up a few and he's dead
as soon as he springs out of his sarcophagus.

Thanks!

I'll get another flaming khopesh and a wand of fireball for my partner. We'll try and take him out at the tomb!

I have been using the Sun Flasks from the festival. They do a lot of damage to him, and it makes him vulnerable (searing light spell). Plus I have a ton of them in my inventory, and this is the only really useful thing I have found to use them on, lol. I used about 10-15 on him on Normal, and about 20 of them on him on Hard. I havent tried Elite yet.

They might be available on the AH, and I am pretty sure they are in the DDO store.

**EDIT
If I remember right, the Sun Flasks did about 75 HP damage on hard. The DDO wiki says that any light based spell will make him vulnerable just like he was in the room on the other side of the crypt.

WoF should work on him. For whatever reason, it seems that he has a hidden stoneskin like effect that you have to wear down first. Normally the first few swings of melee will do 0 damage, but then he just goes down like a prom dress.

What I do is save the light right next to him for last, we put out all the others, then come back to it.

Also, on my monk i've been able to rip him apart by using the endless light wraps.

So we did as suggested by the community and succeeded, however, we did learn something.

Everbright. Jubes noticed the effect on some vendor trash and ended up hitting it while I was pounding on the mummy. Lo and behold he became susceptible to melee weapons (with some DR) hit the ground like a prom dress!

It happened quickly, but I think he is immune to fire effects from weapons.

Thanks again!
