Faith Enhancement question

So I finally built my first ever Paladin this week and have been learning the class. I understand that unyielding sovereignty is the Faith Enhancement that is the most useful. I am just wondering how useful Vulkoor's Avatar and Silver Flame Exorcism are? Is Silver Flame Exorcism basically free Banishment spell on a 30 second timer?

Also why is Divine Light so awful? I picked it up just to check it out and was extremely let down. Super poor damage and on top of that it only does light damage to undead. Why is this skill even in the game if there is no point in skilling it?

I liked Divine Light when I loaded it and was running as a Hunter of the Dead. It's an area of effect attack and I wouldn't use it against a single enemy unless it was a redname (and especially against a Doomshpere). Find yourself surrounded by a number of undead and you don't have the Charisma to turn them? Pop them with a DL.
