Wanted to see what can be done to fight this guy melee, so i went in casual/solo. Was able to take him down fairly well.

Went in norm, dropped down, beat him pretty quickly to about 50% and then I ran back away from the portal, uncursed myself, threw a heal scroll, looked up and he was 100%.

I twf and s/b fought for about 20 minutes, could not get him to less than 96-99%...just a long battle of curse pots, heal scrolls, silver flame pots, and TWF....so I just gave up and let him kill me .....

So what is his deal, you get him to 50% then he goes to 100% and has about 150 hitpoint heal every half second? crazy.

so I did the next best thing, put up an lfm for a crazy fvs to blade him....and thus we finished

so, did he bug or is that normal? Honestly rarely ever fought him except as an FvS...on casual his regen was not to tough and for the first 50% of his health on norm it was not an issue either...and then....100% and no way to kill...

or does elec heal him? I fought him standstill in curse holes or elec areas...

you need to move around the room while fighting him. not sure the exact timing, but its about 5 seconds of fighting then move to next platform. this way you totally avoid the curse traps.

I've done that fella over a few different ways.

My ranger used to drop down while the party hung around up top and kite him backwards while dropping the many shot, then just straight ranging between timers (used the silver bow with some +5 holy arrows back then if i remember rightly), wasn't the fastest way to do it but it worked ok.

Two of my FVS guys did the barrier kite, though i must say i always found that a bit slow, and devised my own faster method (instead of doing a full circuit, just drop 2 x barriers and zig zag him backwards and forwards through them, he teleports less, takes more hits, goes down faster. You take a lot of soul drains, but it's easy for player with decent reactions to jump cast curse remove followed by a heal when it happens, no real danger at all really).

One of my FVS guys is a Horc with 2 fighter levels and swings around a whopping great Falchion!.

He melee's the guy down, doing the old, hit him 4 to 5 swings, step back, hit him 4 to 5 swings, step back method, and doesn't have much trouble, though he does haste and fighter haste boost a fair bit doing it.

All of those have worked for me enough to regard the quest as a loot run, the big thing is to keep the damage constant, large gaps in dealing damage will see his regen catch up and then it's the do it all again syndrome.

Good luck in future runs, you'll nail the ugly batface in the end i'm sure :).

Coit out~

he went into immortal heal mode...about at 50%...

the exploding curse ain't so bad and you can fight in it, just as long as he does not damage you much (he is wimpy in that way luckily)...

but the regen after 50% was impossible to overcome.

that's odd, i've never ran into that issue while meleeing him on my fvs - I usually just fight him on the edge of one platform, and before the trap goes off just side step to the next platform, and go back and forth between two pads instead of running around the room. felt more productive instead of running around.

Never seen him regen to full unless a wipe occurs down below. Not sure what went wrong with your fight.

He seems to regen about 100/150/200 hp per 2 seconds (n/h/e). While a single melee can easily out-DPS those numbers, out-DPSing them while moving (to dodge curses) and healing can be tricky.

I have soloed him in melee on elite on a favored soul. It's unforging, exciting and long, but remains one of the most fun fights I've had in DDO.

Puged this a while back. I ran backward keeping his aggro while the rest of the party chased behind him and swatted him. Worked very well. just keep the party moving. :)
