The Ice Games are coming to an end soon. I figured I’d go ahead and share my deep deep Wisdom on effective jumping so anyone out there who may not have all the goodies they want can learn and get some serious coinage. The Hoglum Way. I’ll start with the basics.

To start: Go to the top of the Harbor. This is where you start your jump. Make sure to talk to the guy standing at the ramp on the platform. After speaking to him, slide down the ice jump. Fall into the water then proceed to find a way back to dry land.

Run back to the top. Take off your feather fall boots and put on your ice skates. Ok, now we’re ready for another try. Slide down the ice and hit the space bar. Fall into the water and once again find your way back to dry land. Repeat this several times.

Go to the DDO Wiki and look up Risia Ice games. Watch some YouTube videos. Get back into the game.

Intermediate Ice Jumping: Go to the little house near the docks. Jump off the edge of the building towards the low hanging blue coin. Blue coins will get you recipe 4’s, which are really cool. Fall short. Try again. Fall short. Go to house Phiarlan and get a Jump spell. Go back. Jump to the blue coin. Success! Try jumping to the low hanging white coin then turn to the blue coin. Sit around and wait for them to respawn.

Wise up and change instances. No more waiting for spawning. Yes!

Advanced Coin Jumping (without being so advanced). Watch people jump to the ship’s mast. Get jealous. Try it yourself. Fail. Jump to the mast. Fall. Jump to the mast. Land on it then slide off the side. Dang it. Try again. Land on the mast. Turn and jump to the half pipe looking thing. Land on the half pipe looking thing and slip and fall on your rear end. Stand back up. Try to build momentum by sliding back and forth on the half pipe only to fall off the edge. Look for dry land.

Fall off that horrible mast several more times. Land on the mast. Turn right and jump again. Slide down the half pipe and jump off the other end. Fall on the ice below and proceed to wait for city regeneration to wake you up. Go back to the little house and try getting on the mast again. Once again, when you get on the mast, jump to the half pipe. This time, when you slide to the other end of it, hit your space bar really hard. Fly up and over the next obstacle and fall down on the grass. Wait for city regeneration to wake you up.

Go back to the little house and jump towards the mast several more times. When you realize you’re not jumping as good as you were a few minutes ago, run back to House Phiarlan and get a new jump spell.

Go back to that little house. Consider asking Turbine to get rid of that annoying lady who walks in front of it and keeps making you jump in the water. Once you make it past the first half pipe, slide towards the far corner. This is a safe place. Catch your breath. Don’t panic, you’re almost there. Turn towards the last half pipe, hold down the “W” key really hard and don’t forget the hit the space bar with all your might. Fall in the water.

Change the batteries in your mouse and don’t blame yourself. You’ve gotten this far, right? Some evil outside force must be conspiring against you.
Try again. Get to that safe little corner. Slide down. Jump. Slide down the next half pipe. Jump. Watch in horror as the purple coin goes over your head. Feel helplessly gimp.

Get back to that little corner. Jump Jump Jump! Grab the purple coin. Quick! Run to the vendor guy who gives recipe 5’s!!!!!! Get your recipe 3 then go back to that little house and start all over.

No, no, no, it goes like this:

Step 1: roll up a Favored Soul (be VIP or buy it from DDO store if you're FTP). Get it to Level 18 (wings). Take it to the Harbor Ice Games.
Step 2: ?
Step 3: Profit!

Wait, I'm stuck on the first part where you fall into the water. How do I get into the water from the top of the ramp?

Or you can actually get a speed increase from the House P Pendant, get the Ice Skates, have about a 35~ jump without feather fall.

Jump just before hitting the lip of the first ramp, a nice angle aiming at the second jump.

Hold jump down until you are 90 degrees over the the middle of the down slope of the second jump and land to get enough speed for the second jump.

Jump about halfway up the upslope of the second jump, let go of the forward button at this point. This part is easy to over shoot, you're going to have to aim very carefully to land. Lean into those "a" and "s" keys.

Once you've landed, slide into the corner and take a quick breath.

Maneuver into the third jump, slide all the way down, let go of the forward button about halfway up (where the angle change is) and jump again.

Same type of landing, get 90 degrees over the middle of the final down slope, slide forward, let go of the forward button and jump just before the angle change of the final jump.

Use "w" and "s" to land that sweet sweet purple.

Once in the water, drink some cocoa.

At the top of the slope again, change your harbor so you don't get to the end and realize you didn't give it enough time to respawn.

Took me some time to get it down but it was worth it, as far as time sinks go.

First break down and buy some skates, access to jump, and haste.

Go to the little house on the dock and walk out to the tip until it says longstride, turn to the mast and jump. It take some time to get this down, but after a few thousand tries you will have it to an art.

Once on the Mast turn twards the first floating ice, jump, best to look down once you learn to get to it. As soon as you are over the ice stop pushing forward until you drop to the ice, push forward again and hit jump at the end in order to jump tward the 2nd floaitng ice.

Once you get good at this jump it will be easy to over jump it, you have to stop pushing forward, even backward if you start to go to far. once you hit the 2nd ice you can face into the corner and take a breath. this part only takes 500 or so tries to get down.

When you are ready turn to the next ice jump, just before you get to it jump up, you may need to tap it forward just a bit stop hitting forward until you hit the ice, then push jump as soon as you hit the end.

Once you are over the last floating ice stop pushing forward, drop down, push forward once you hit the ice again and jump at the end for the purple one!

Be sure to change instances after jumping to all of them.

You want to land as for back on the slope as you can, and jump as close to the end of the ice when leaving. Sometimes looking down gives you the best view so you can make sure you are over the ice.

Good luck!

I really, really enjoyed this. Mostly because it sounds like **** near the same
"process" that I went through. I laughed out loud at "Wait for city regeneration to
wake you up" and my office mates looked over to see what was so funny. I
figured they wouldn't get the joke. :D

If I had written it - it would have ended like this:

- Give up on the **** skates and those stupid purple coins and just farm blue and
white coins until your fingers hurt. Then put "Frost" on all your non-named weapons
for your main and 3 alts and call an end to it to before you get permanently injured.

+1 for the story! :)
