I have been playing PnP DnD since those three little books known as chainmail. Used to make sure i got to the Games Shop every friday before the mall closed to see if the new Adventure was out or to see the "new" game of the week. Once in a while a change of pace with Star Frontiers or Gamma World (or even better, Bunnies and Burrows) would rear its little head. We are a Pen and Paper group that started up over ten years ago, moved away from each other to the far corners of the State of Wisconsin and even some other states, and started staying in touch via MMORPG’s. We started on Darkage, and were still marveling at the wonder that is the TV. show Firefly, and took our guild name from the best episode. We carried the guild name over to DDO when we made the switch, mostly I think we were anxious to start playing at the time and didn’t want to spend valuable play time thinking of a new name.

We use teamspeak, because we have all individually come to the conclusion that ventrillo, in a word, sucks. We have experienced some volume and voice quality issues with the in-game chat, and we don’t like the fact that you have to be in the same group to talk to each other, which becomes a real pain when you log out and log back in on another toon (toon being Darkage slang for character, some habits are hard to break.). We generally don’t invite other people to join us on teamspeak because among other reasons, anytime any player or mob gets hit with Otto’s dance, we break into the “Safety Dance” by Men Without Hats, and none of us can sing in key. We generally don’t even tell other people we use teamspeak, in fact the rest of the guild will probably give me a ton of (insert appropriate explicative here) just for mentioning it in this forum.

You can guess the average age in our guild by the Safety Dance reference, I think our youngest guy is 27ish, and he’s the young pup by far.

We usually keep it casual, but have been known to employ strategery from time to time, we are a small guild, and thus have to rely on PUGs to accomplish the more difficult dungeons, but generally contribute quite a bit to any PUG we happen to find ourselves in without trying to dominate the party or tell others how to play their toons.

We were toying with the idea of using the guild message of the day as a list of tools that we have grouped with in PUGs that do try and dominate the party and tell other people how to play their toons and are generally tools that we want to avoid, but we came to the conclusion that the guild message of the day wasn’t nearly big enough for all the jerkwads we’ve run into.

Well some of the guilds weaken and disband, but we are growing. We have some great members and a solid staff of officers. We are in most timezones in the us, and even in a few other countries.

As a guild we have a variety of people, from 20-30-40+ somethings and we have some younger folks in the guild as well. We try to be respectful, and most of all have fun. Our experienced players can be listed as some of the best on the server, and they are willingto help new and old players out with suggestions and often help lead through tougher quests. While sometimes we sprint, we never leave anyone behind in quests until they know the way.

We have weekly dragon runs, severalof us do 6 man dragon runs, and the titan knows some of us up close and personal. After this past week the wizard king is calling one of our officers by his first name.
