I have been away for a while, is range combat still pretty bad? I made a bow ranger a while back, but it got pretty frustrating.

Combat combat rocks ^-^ <3 but takes a lot of work a lot of skill a lot of money and a lot of time. :D

There have been a few changes that make it more viable than it used to be, but if you mean is it comparable to a TWF or THF melee, the answer is no.

Ranged combat as a primary style is generally bad.

Ranged combat used situationally can be totally awesome.


Depending on how long you've been gone, there may have been a few improvements and tweaking but nothing major since they dropped Shot-on-the-run as a needed feat to reload and move while using a bow.

One good thing is that Rangers and Elves get Arcane Archer enhancements that can bump damage up a bit from where it used to be, but it's still only good situationally.
