You get sneak attacks with every weapon on every melee attack, as long as you don't have aggro.

Rogues usually go TWF because you add your massive sneak attack damage to every attack and offhand attack, but not to glancing blows.

You'll get sneak attacks, but your DPS will not be as good as it could be - you hit more often when dual-wielding. A THF rogue is gimpy in comparison to a TWF rogue. It'll take a while to get GS rapiers or khopeshes - up to you to decide if it's worth it. If you just plan on TRing again the moment you hit 20, I'd say you'll probably manage.

A rogue dualwielding masterwork daggers will do more damage to bosses with DR than one wielding a min2 GA.

A rogue dualwielding masterwork daggers will do more damage to bosses with DR than one wielding a min2 GA.

To put some math into that, typical pure rogue sneak attack values are:

20 rogue levels: 10d6
Assassin III: 3d6
Capstone: 4d6
---
17d6 = 59.5 on average

sneak attack training IV: 12
Backstabbing +5 item: 8

On each attack where you do not have aggro, you get around +80 damage on average.
For Harry, who has 50% fort, this translates to +40 damage for the main hand and (with the 80% proc chance of GTWF) + 32 damage on the offhand.

On a two-handed weapon, you will also get the +40 on the mainhand, but you will miss the damage bonus from the off-hand. Note that Cleave will apply SA damage to every hit it deals, but it is slow, compared to the normal attack.

thx for replies !

Just love my GA, but guess I'll make some new ones, min II and radiance khopheses maybe ?
Thing is that I solo a lot, so maybe sneak attack is not my strength those times anyway.

Dont make a radiance khopesh, radiance only works on crit, which means, that it will have
better effect on a weapon with higher crit range. I suggest you take radiance rapier
and Min II khopeshes.

If you use khopesh you will probably have IC: slash, so a radiance kukri will be 15-20 using the same feat. You will need to UMD a Master's Touch scroll every time you go into a quest (or fighter levels).

And ranged...
...within 30 feet.

One followup question - are you going to TR again immediately afterwards? If this is just going to be one shourt life followed by an immediate TR at 20 to Fighter or Barbarian, then you might want to just stick with the Greataxe since you won't be spending all that long in your Rogue life anyway.

yup, tr again immidiately. thats the plan, howvere still have ranger to go, so those 1-handed weapons wouldnt be totally wasted.

In that case, I'd shop around for a one handed ML 8 or ML 10 paralyzing something and a nice Rapier or two to make leveling easier, but don't sweat the Greensteel. It's definately a nice-to-have, but for the ingredients involved in its crafting, you can do just fine with a nice +2 Holy Silver rapier of PG or something similar and you'll still do a disgusting amount of damage with your GS weapon when you hit level 12 just because you're a fully twinked TR.

I certainly don't want to discourage you from getting nice equipment before you TR, but if your final life is going to be a THF build, then I just don't see the point in spending 48 Large Shroud ingredients to make a pair of weapons that you aren't going to use for that much time anyway - especially when there are very nice weapons available on the AH.

One last thought - if you start with 1 Rogue level and then hit 6 Barbarian levels and finish out your levels with Rogue, you'll end up with a character that is pretty familiar to you. I don't think that I'd want to go with that character model if I were going to stay on that life for long after hitting 20, staying pure won't get you the capstone if you TR immediately anyway. There's a lot to be said for having the ability to Rage your way through some quests and sneak and scroll heal your way through others.
