The price of the latest armor kits is getting redicuous when it costs almost a full months worth of turbine points to by one armor set kits its getting to be not worth it. I am personally huge into thew armor kit i love the idea and being able to swap out looks but the cost is getting to high thats a problem.
Please consider reducing the prices down to 100 turbine points for the kit 1 versions and 150 points for the kit 2 versions still enough that you will by them or pay for points but low enough to still be able to walk when you leave the DDO store!!!

I was gonna buy a couple of the kits. Saw the prices and now will be buying exactly none. So reasonably priced kits would have made a little money off me instead of the none they are going to get now. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.
I'll just wait until the prices drop drastically, or until they make the things unlimited use. Until then I could care less about them.

If you love that, then you'd really love a REAL armor customization system. (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=296960)

Agreed. I know some will pay it but it's too high a price for me. It's not that I lack points but that I compare the idea to something similarly priced and favour that - xp pots over armour kits, for example.
so all the "thousands" of ppl who are trying the demo's 1tp per shot = thousands of tp's spent per preview of new kits coming out.
then thousands of ppl buying them for 150-450 = 150000-450000tp's spent
hmmmmmm
great job of letting us customize our armor like everyone has been saying all this time
i know you want to make money Turbine but really........... NEED before GREED
we NEED to customize OUR own armor turbine so stop being so GREEDY !
ya i said it so.......
I enjoyed going shopping and trying on the pretty new clothes. I took some fashion shots. But my credit card cannot handle the silk ties and Gucci shoes. My armor may look like it came from Wal-Mart, but at least I still be money in my college fund.
Maybe there will be a sale someday. I would spring 50 TP for a new shirt.

Don't buy them and the price will go down.
If people are buying them in quanity...then they are priced correctly.
Turbine knows how many people buy.

With the comment about college funds I thought I'd do a modicum of research.
According to the Big Mac Index for 2010 http://bigmacindex.org/year/2010-big-mac-index.htm the cost of a Big Mac for an American is $3.58. Like The Economist I tend to agree that such a ubiquitous product, sold across the world, is a good reference.
Even buying Turbine Points at the their most expensive rate of 420 Turbine Points for $6.50, even the most expensive armour kit is not going to cost an American more than two Big Macs and could even more possess more nutrition than this alternative purchase.
So if an American can forego the momentary pleasure of two Big Macs, so they can buy an armour kit instead, then their college fund is safe.
Simples.

This ^ sums it up - despite my agreeing that for a pure cosmetic thing, they're getting a bit steep.
50% sale, some day. ;)

McD is a worldwide entity, how come only us Americans have to go without out Macs?? (Personally, I do the Dollar menu at McD. If I'm gonna spring $3.50+ for a burger, I'm gonna go get a good one at Culver's or BYB.) :D

Agreed. Almost a full month's worth of VIP for a single kit is beyond outrageous and I am now boycotting armor kits even though I'm premium. I mean, what's next, 1500 points for a single armor kit?
Bought royal 1 for one character, was waiting for a points sale to stock up for the next adventure pack and more armor kits and am so disgusted now that I will not be buying TP until the situation improves. When you make your cash grabs that obvious, it turns people off.
Reduce the price of the armor kits to something reasonable please. 100-200 tp is reasonable for a cosmetic improvement. 300+ is not.

I actually suspect your last comment is key to the pricing. I have noticed more and more 20% and 50% off sales...I think they are now using the Car Dealer approach to pricing and putting new items at stupid high prices knowing they will sell a few at that price, but not really intending to sell at that price. They are preplanning in the sales which will happen from time to time.

My reference had prices for Big Macs in many countries, which is the purpose of that economic measure, but I used America as a reference because Turbine prices their points in American Dollars.
There was absolutely no hint of mischief there at all ... ;)
Given a potentially very poor rate of exchange an English DDO player would have forego up to possibly three Big Macs, because they are marginally cheaper over here - according to The Economist.
This at least allows people to place the cost of these armour kits in perspective.

I guess i'll be the odd man out on this one but I don't really see a problem with the current pricing. Having left the game in a state of dissatisfaction for over a year, and only popping in once or twice to say hello to old friends, I am by no means a fanboi.
Having said that, I recall reading requests for armor customization etc etc. By no means am I any sort of expert or savvy on MMO design/coding/etc, but it seems to me that developing and implementing the current armor customization system took someone, somewhere, some time. I personally know several people in game and im sure there are plenty on these forums that I don't know, that would have preferred that the time and money spent for customization would have been spent on new levels and content instead.
Long story short - A certain portion of the player base clamored for a luxury such as armor customization and Turbine listened and provided it. Being a luxury, it has luxury pricing - welcome to life.
**(DDO, imho, isn't about all the frivolous things like hairdo's and pretty clothes. I've got good friends from other MMO's who WONT play DDO because they have no experience with PnP D&D and according to them, DDO takes longer to learn as far as the ins and outs of AC, stacking bonuses, DR, enhancements, etc. Some of them are the type that prefer pretty landscapes and spending all day trying on cosmetic outfits and coincidentally, most of em play LOTRO.)

And if you're getting your rage on due to the pricing of a purely cosmetic item with no in-game effects whatsoever I humbly suggest more time away from the PC is in order.

I bought 1 for 150 tp ( missed the fact that it had frilly lace on it, nice touch for a dungeon crawler)
so, replaced it for one I really did think was ok. 150tp
Even though I'm a moron, 150tp seems right.
I was stoked to see the only one I liked, just released, but for the stated price, 350-450 you can keep um.
I bought the only "two" I most likely will ever buy. Until I can own what I buy, (bound item, to account once removed) I'm Done with them. Even though I ended up spending double what I intended, I was happy to be able to change my Fuggly DT leather.
And, in closing, ENOUGH of the bright colors already. I ran around a superhero MMo, with people, who's outfits were less flamboyant!
Whats wrong with black? how about rusty stuff? Purple, yellow, violet, with lace.... really?
I'm diving in dungeons, put some grime on there!

I personally will not buy any of the new skins. I won't even try them on.
Now if they were to let us use the perfectly good ingame skins, that already exist (like class for like class armor) I will outfit every toon I have or will ever have.

This is part of the problem yes. Artists capable of making something beautiful made... DT. Why? So they could charge an arm and a leg and another arm and another leg to fix it I guess. :(
It's not even about the points, it's about the attitude towards players.

I accidently bought a full price one last night and I was like, what the hell ight as well use it now... then I find out it appears it's applied only to one armor... I thought it'd be like the helmet thing... suffice to say I won't be buying any more.
Unless of course I totally missed something which is entirely possible...
