View Full Version : Buff bar, ugghh!
For the love of free and dignified emus all over the galaxy, can we PLEASE fix the buff description bar so that it shows everything for quick reference!? There is just too many buffs, debuffs, and curses in this game for it not to list them all upon quick reference by the player. Please make that a priority, as it would make game-play more enjoyable, thank you.

Hey it could be worse, I remember in Everquest you could only have 15 'long term buffs' and like 6 to 8 'short buffs'. And ALL debuffs will get moved into your long term buffs , if you are at the cap it will kill the first buff you had! You could spend some AA to increase your buff count by like 5 I think... been ages sence I last picked up that game.

Death works better for fixing that problem
/signed on lengthening the Buff Bar to Indefinite - it cuts off halfway across my screen. I still have the other half to use!

add a second row for buffs
also
add debuffs, curses, negs, at the very far right so we can always look there for them

Yes pls do extend the buff bar , or add a second one under it !
And while we are at it , add this to the wishlist .
I would like them to make it so you could click and drag a buff off the buff bar and add it to a tool bar , so you could have one toolbar with your important short term buffs , ie frenzy divine power ect for easy reference!

+1
We can has text/icon wrap plz?
And add a scroll bar to the examine window while you are at it. The two problems merely exacerbate one another.

While you're at it, fix player descriptions so that buff list fits in a scrollable area, so that we can still see the whole window when we inspect someone... /who <player> works, but isn't as good as just pressing z...

Yes, even just make the icons smaller.

Yes, even just make the icons smaller.
Dont agree , not a good fix , at high resolutions the icons are small enough!
So what do yall think, lengthen the current buff barr and then wrap it around to create a second tier?

Could just be a bit less crazy with the icons.
GH doesn't need 2 icons. Nobody cares about the extra HPs.
Pro Elements doesn't need 5 icons.
Heroes feast, I usually run around with like 3 of these icons, I have no idea why I need so many.
Shield of whirling steel... do I REALLY need an icon to tell me that I've got 2 weapons equipped?
...etc. Information overload.
So what do yall think, lengthen the current buff barr and then wrap it around to create a second tier?
Yeah, I would think that the easier solution would be wrap.
I also am firmly in the belief that each buff or effect SHOULD HAVE ITS OWN ICON! :D
I have 5 icons that look like rage, etc. It's just lazy and bad.

q: caster, have you cast haste on us?, can't see it in the buff bar
a: yes but I don't ****ing know how much time is left because I can't either see the buff icon
the best way in my opinion would be the ability to click on a short term buffs, long term buffs, ship buffs, and collapse/expand that tree
this can be expanded by dividing it more into divine/arcane buffs long/short term if wanted
also the ability to rearrange party members at will would be nice for healers that are assigned to heal a part of the party/raid ( yes evon6 bases I'm looking at you )

I would think the best solution is to rebalance the game so the minimum # of icons are needed at any one time, thus lessening the need to keep so many on the screen.
Adding bars, stretching bars, changing the size of icons, these are all stopgap measures. If the design of the game keeps requiring more and more frequent access to so many icons at one time, I'd look at the design, too.
Maybe there's a better way to deal with session wide buffs, etc....

I completely agree.
Dont get me wrong i love ship buffs, but now that they are there i cant tell what buffs i have other then just paying attention to what gets cast.
You can alway look at yourself (z), but the quick refrence would be better.

Just make it a resizable window with scroll bars. Done and done.

At a minimum, add a second row.
Best solution, make it a resizable/movable window. In the window solution have it set up like the chat window with options so we can create seperate buff and debuff bars if we want.

I'd agree with making an extra row...
I disagree with a suggestion made about removing the amount of icons (like the extra HP from GH, the 5 element protection). Information is never too much, I like to know how much protection of each element I have, and so on.
But the current situation is horrible, just too many buffs for the buff bar. It would be nice, as well, if the buffs could be sorted in some manner, but that's just me being annoying =D

The separate bars would be nice in my opinion. Furthermore, maybe even have it set so that certain buffs automatically default to that buff bar or bars, if not all buffs. This way we could drag and drop the bars where we wanted them for quick reference and visual management.
