Um... it's possible to get to level 18 and never do Waterworks...
In case you didn't notice, you can get into the Harbor now without doing WW first...

No, this is just an indicator of two things, one bad, the other good:
1) Good, that he didnt run that quest to ad nauseum, because thats what us Vets had to do to get items/XP/levels in "the before time" (c)(tm)
2) Bad, because he probably skirt-tailed other players, got his XP w/o hardly any real "work" and probably now considers himself a "Vet" cuz he's lvl 18.
While I'm slightly jealous of #1, I am ROFL'ing at him on #2.
I'm on Ghallanda with a Shaamis, please PM me his name so I can utilize his skills to my advantage.

I give that screenshot a 3/10, and only because you went through all that effort to make your text look layered in MSPaint.
And actually sometimes Venn can bug and spawn under a pile of debris or somewhere not visible where you'd actually have to tab onto him to find him, so it's completely possible to not be able to find him...if you don't know how to tab-target...

but it really helps to know what Venn looks like. Even after killing the interrogator (and seeing the spoiler), I think I had to open every door to find Venn.
Don't solo it as a dwarf first. Try something taller (to see in those cells).

While it's entirely possible to only run WW at level 18, I see the OP's point, why would you?
It's pretty good xp at level, decent end reward and coin lord favor for that extra inventory space.
Additionally, there are frequent lfm's up if a person is not confident to solo.

at lvl WW is alittle bit more fun to run elite with a friend or two... on solo it's alittle but butt-kicker not to mention slow progress

Hmm at level maybe I agree but lvl 18 with Haste, Fw, Fd, PK, Disco etc etc - dont think slow going would be an issue, or butt kicking... welll maybe from a Kobolds point of view :D

We had a cleric try to use a res cookie on him. It was really cute.
But not as good as when I was a noob and kept trying to trade Ham to peeps looking for it:

I don't remember it being Butchers Path that unlocked harbor. I do remember that there were actually two ways in. I thought all the quests that used to unlock the Harbor were moved to Korthos though.

Yup, thats one of the ones I remember, now it is the first quest in the Korthos Island Explorer area.

looking at the playing style encountered (mostly), as an average or new or casual player you have no choice other than "skirt-tailing" to stay with the group. Because nobody waits for you or explains stuff or gives you the time to see and explore and remember the details.
saying, when we get lvl18 "noobs" (if there is such a thing), then those might be bred by the community by which he was beeing accompanied to that level ...

No one's forcing them to join zerg runs.
Level 18 takes 10 days to get to for newbies who have played other MMOs and know how to run a quake like interface and mash buttons. That could be a two week old player you are talking about, heh.
Waterworks? What is this waterworks you speak of?

You could either get into the harbor by doing Survie the low road which started in the lower part and if you clicked on the exit brought you to upper part, or do the goodblade quests which opened up upper harbor access permanently

Actually, for a little while there they had it worse than we did. They had to get from Snowy Korthos to Sunny Korthos before getting to the Harbor.
Korthos is still a messed up place with half the people on one side and the other half on the other and both trying to get into each other's groups.
Good times.

Back then, the starter quests couldn't even be repeated. One and done, and when they added favor, you had to get 3 guildies to roll alts, and do normal, hard, then 'leet.

makes no difference to the "skirt-tailing" one, whether nobody helps (or explains or waits ...), because they are zerging or just running a bit faster than him or missing the nerve for explanations or don't care.
you never know what kind of a group you will be with. not every "zerging" in LFM indicates ignorant players, and not every "all welcome" in LFM indicates nice and slow people.

Lol, just recently rolled up my first dwarf and I see what you mean. Rolled up a halfing FvS too because I thought it would be something different from normal and it's even harder to see tall things.

/trade Buying Venn.. willing to pay well. (pst!)
to many people getting free jokes in on this.. i needed to get me one. Btw yes.. i have been in parties with people that didnt know 90% of content, its because they party with Tr's or knowledged players at low level that pratically solo the quest and let 5 members pike it. Atleast thats how i am when i play my Tr's... what party?

The other problem is you do have people that pay to have their toon's leveled. I am not sure how else to explain a level 18 Sorc that doesn't know how to use haste or wall of fire or target AOE spells.
