That doesn't mean that you can buy them. Yes, you can see them, but you get a red "This item cannot be purchased" message.

So buy the packs and switch to premium. The spend the 15$ a month that you would have used for VIP on what you need to bring your premium account up to where your VIP account is. The save 15$ a month.

You can't buy the packs if you are a VIP (Very Inconvinient Penalty) player. Yes there is a button that allows you to SEE the packs, but you are not able to buy them.
There is also no way to suspend/cancel your VIP account if it is in progress. You have to cancel it and wait untill the remaining time runs out, and THEN buy the packs (at full price since the sale is over then)

Excuse my ignorance then. I just recently went premie for 3 months on the 30$ plan, and I don't plan on renewing unless there is another price drop. But I am almost to the point where I could go premie for good.

Thank you Turbine for this sale. As soon as another player mentioned the sale last evening, I immediately went to my local GameStop and bought a $25 (2000TP) card. I now have 4 more adventure packs to occupy my time. Now only if you could have a 50% off sale on shared banks...

Due to the limited amount of content that is actually worth buying from the store, everything will be on sale at some point in the not too distant future.

Only item I bought full price was the shared bank, which was 50% off during a day of the December sales.

I am quite sure there are revenue goals for the store and promotional sales drive transactions.

I would recommend subscribing to the email program so you never miss a sales announcement. I am surprised they haven't devised a way to buy items without having to be in the game and then drive that channel with time 'lunch time sales', but I'm sure that's 'coming soon.'
