View Full Version : Alternative suggestion to GS deconstruction

I'm fairly sure many of us have GS completed items sitting in our banks that we simply do not use, for example I know several people that crafted Min 2 cloaks only to switch things around to encorporate the mabar cloak.

Now de-construction is likely never going to happen so rather than just leave these items discarded why not simply make all GS items Bound to Account instead of Bound to character?

That way the stuff that you have ground out and worked for can be used on an alt instead where you could re-configure to be able to ue and not lose.

It just seems a simpler way of maybe solving this problem at least in the short term.

the minimum level should be adjusted then or any other limitation. there is no point in passing double t3 items to a first life lvl 12 guy.

Probably because people wouldn't use it as a "Oh I don't use this anymore, I'll pass it to someone else".
They'll use it as a " Now I only need one set of Lightning 2's that I can use for all my toons"

I foresee sooner or later the store getting a item that makes a BtC item BtA/BtC on equip.

What if we could deconstruct them to at least get the ingredients we used to make the blank back?

That way we would still have to recollect our smalls, mediums, larges, and shards.. :)?

why not make it like the eldritch runes, if its a double supreme item you get between 2 and 24 larges back, as well as 1-12 medium and smalls, make it random as well with 12,6,6 being the averages you get back, you then get the blank weapon back which cant be deconstructed but is unbound (for sale moving etc). By having it 1-12 per shard and random it removes a method of greensteel farming to some extent.

I'm so tired of people saying it's so hard to get scales. ITS NOT. You have an even chance to get a Scale as any other ingredient. Try running more than one toon at a time through the Shroud. It helps.

Um, pretty sure everyone mostly cares about the larges. All the other stuff is pretty easy to get.

I don't have a problem making greensteel. But I'm a pretty avid gamer. I have 15 toons that I run through the shroud almost every time their timers are up. In the past 2 months, I've pulled 3 scales. No, the drop rates are not even close to the same. When you've run the shroud as long as I have, you'll get a better understanding of this.

I have run the shroud as long as you. I've ran three shrouds in the last three days and pulled two scales. The game just hates you and loves me obviously. I have more Scales in my Ing Bag than I do Stones. Those are my nemisis. The Devs have bluntly said you have equal odds of getting a scale. I'll believe them over you any day.

Honestly wish all greensteel would just disappear one day. Would make the power creep more manageable.

Raid loot should never be bound to account.

I'm all for a ritual for normal quest related BtC items becoming BtA.. But Raid loot is where I draw the line. Greensteel is way overpowered for its level... Heck, greensteel is WAY overpowered for L20.......

I like the idea, although I think it should be balanced by negatives to be a bit more prohibitive.

For example: shard <any> + energy cell + GS item makes item BTA AND Bind on Equip.

It is interesting that scales are considered by the entire DDO market to be rare and precious. Most in game items are traded for scales and or plat. No one is asking for a full tome page set for some large bones lol. I don't think this is a coincidence. And don't believe everything the dev's tell you. ;)

I think scales are also the most needed ingredient for the "best" GS items.
triple cha skills needs 2-3
Mineral 2 needs what 5?
Lightening needs 5

after a quick look it seems they all need similar amounts of shrapnel, but im guessing other recipes done need as many shraps?

also i doubt scales drop as frequently, thats just something to calm the masses :P

Exactly. This is the main reason scales are the most sought after ingredient, second only to a lower drop rate (in my experience). Most of the (good) recipes require more scales than other ingredients. This has been talked about before. In my opinion, this lopsided crafting mechanic is more reason to implement a deconstruction solution.

Just making another item is not a good alternative.
