Edit: In looking for answers to some questions regarding Astral Diamonds and Guild Airships I started this thread. Below are the updated questions and answers from those nice enough to contribute.

Special thanks to the posters who have provided assistance!

Q1) Can multiple people in a guild buy astral diamonds to contribute to an Airship purchase/upgrade or does the purchase have to come from a single source?

A: Yes, anyone in the guild can go to the airship showroom and deposit a minimum of 5 Astral Diamonds or 500pp towards an airship purchase that will go into a guild's Airship Fund. You can see the status of your guild's Airship Fund when you are making the deposits. This does not work for amenities.

Q2) I don't seem to be able to buy any Astral Diamonds from the DDO store right now. Are they off market for some reason?

A: You can't purchase ADs if you enter the store from the character selection page. Having a character selected on the selection page does not mean you are entering the store with that particular character, so the store does not know you are guilded (and, thus, it assumes you have no use for ADs.) You have to enter the store from within the game world and through a guilded character of at least 15th level before the AD's will be purchasable.

Q3) Am I reading the Wiki right when I see that the guild has to be 24th level to rent the first amenity (mailbox) with in game plat? This, obviously, has ramifications for anyone interested in buying a ship at level 20 that they will only be able to "use" if they are spending Turbine Points.

A: Yes and No. You can't purchase your first AMENITY until the guild is 24th level with platinum. But you can start purchasing CREW members who can provide provide buffs at level 20.

Q4) What happens if you upgrade the airship from the Windspyre Sparrow to the Stormglory Bolt, do all your purchased hookpoint amenities transfer over?

A: Yes. Though, as an aside, keep in mind that your guild must always be of the appropriate level to use the crew members and amenities that you've purchased. Given that Guild Renown begins to atrophy above level 25 (but never goes below level 25) you can lose access to certain crew/amenities.

Q5) What happens to guild chest contents when the guild chest expires after 30 days?

1. Yes. I don't know about non-officers, but at least all officers can contribute astral diamonds at the vendors in the Airship Showroom. I assume normal members can, too.

2. Astral diamonds are listed under Guilds in the DDO store. It seems to be working for me right now. However, I did try to follow the link from the airship vendor to the DDO store and it gave me an unknown item error. Just open the store manually and do it.

3. Level 20 ship can be purchased with plat only. The lowest level ship that requires astral diamonds is level 25. Level 20, 50, and 80 ships are platinum (Windspyre ships). Level 25, 55, 85 ships are astral diamonds (Stormglory ships). You are correct on the first ammenity to buy for plat is at level 24.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the lvl 20 ship available from the "vendor" in the harbor at lvl 15 with AD?

Thanks for the info.

I'm getting the message:

This area of the Store does not contain anything for your character's class and level. New items are always being added to the Store, so check back often.

And when I select "Show All Items-YES" I can see the various stacks of Diamonds (10, 25, 50, 100) but I can't purchase them. Next to the "Buy" button is the text:

This item cannot be purchased.

My guild is currently 19th level... and since there is a Quickfoot Vendor in the Harbor that lets you buy an airship at 15th I'm not sure what the deal is.

Hmmm. . . don't rightfully know then. I tried it out--we are 35--and it worked for me.

And I was unaware you could use ADs to buy a ship at 15. My advice would be to wait until you are 20. ADs are expensive even at half price. ;)

I've been looking around for the answer to some of these questions, but they are disturbingly hard to find/clarify.

With Astral Diamonds going on sale at 50% tomorrow I figured it was worth getting this information:

1) Can multiple people in a guild buy astral diamonds to contribute to an Airship purchase/upgrade or does the purchase have to come from a single source?

2) I don't seem to be able to buy any Astral Diamonds from the DDO store right now. Are they off market for some reason or will people be able to buy and bank them for when the guild is ready to spend them?

3) Am I reading the Wiki right when I see that the guild has to be 24th level to rent the first amenity (mailbox) with in game plat? This, obviously, has ramifications for anyone interested in buying a ship at level 20 that they will only be able to "use" if they are spending TP's.

Thanks for the info!

1)Yes, anyone in the guild can go to the airship showroom and deposit a minimum of 5 astral diamonds or (I think)5kpp towards an airship purchase. This does not work for amenities.

2)Don't have an answer for that

3)No you are not right. At guild level 20 you can rent a Silver Flame Priest, who will give you constant protection from evil (remove on death) for 1 hour. I am pretty sure you get 1 more crew member with each guild level up to at least 24, if I remember my time looking at the non-ddo rewards list clearly.

As a side note: only buy the ship from the harbor vendor if you really think 200 diamonds is worth getting a ship that's worth 50kpp 5 guild levels early. In addition, at that level all the ship is for you is a really expensive teleporter that ends up in different locations.

So sorry to slightly hijack the thread, but figured these questions were related & didn't want to clutter the board up
with another thread!

What happens if you upgrade the airship from the Windspyre Sparrow to the Stormglory Bolt, do all your purchased hookpoint amenities transfer over or?

What happens to the guild chest contents? Do they get mailed back to the peeps who put them in there or just put
back into their inventories? What if their inventories are full? Put back into their banks/shared banks or?

Any & all info/answers greatly appreciated! Thx in advance! :P! :)!

Yip it is but not sure why anyone would want to buy it, especially as you need AD's not plat for it and basic ammenities/ crew from renown rewards are'nt then available for another 5 levels of guild renown - so more TP's needed to get gold seal bits and pieces - really not worth it imo.

No problem. I'm sure that there are plenty of people with the same questions.

I only have a partial answer for these questions, but I've updated the original post to add your questions and get some more information on how Guild Chests work.

Actually I found out what happens after the guild chest expires ... nothing! When you repurchase it, when you click to open, all the items that were there before will be there when you buy it again.

Since astral diamonds can be used to get Sora Kell marks, it's a bit silly that a guildless character can't buy them.

Since the only thing that a guildless character can do with Astral Diamonds is to make Sora Kell marks, I'm actually glad that guildless characters can't buy them. I'm happy to prevent brand new clueless players from buying something that will probably end up being completely worthless to them.

...now, if only we could convince Turbine to take the DDO Store purchaseable weapons down.

If you really do want to buy Astral Diamonds, you can always just make your own guild if you're VIP. If you're not, then wait 20 seconds in the Harbor for someone to start spamming Harbor chat with how their awesome their new level 6 guild is recruiting.

Our small chest recently expired when we had some loot still in it. We renewed the amenity The next day when we logged on and all our stuff was there. Not sure if there is a time limit on how long you can wait but it indeed stays in the chest after 18 hours of expiring. that is confirmed.

Though, as an aside, keep in mind that your guild must always be of the appropriate level to use the crew members and amenities that you've purchased. Given that Guild Renown begins to atrophy above level 25 (but never goes below level 25) you can lose access to certain crew/amenities.

Not exactly. Once you have an amenity (or crew member) rented on a hookpoint it stays and is usable by anybody until it expires. Even if your guild level drops below the needed level. However, if your guild level drops below the needed level nobody will be able to buy a contract to extend or renew the crew member/amenity.
