Know I know this doesn't sound like a HUGE deal, but at the same time, it is.
I don't know if people even use them, but at guild levels twelve, fourteen, and sixteen you unlock discount melee, arcane, and divine hirelings respectively. Melee choices include Fighter, Barbarian, and Paladin. Arcane includes Wizard and Sorcerer. Divine classes include Cleric and um... Cleric?
Where is the Favored Soul you ask? Well, perhaps they got sick of casting raise dead on undeserving zergers and went to a tavern to drink their sorrows away. Or maybe they jumped off a cliff, realized they were out of SP, failed to cast Leap of Faith, and planted the proverbial jagged rocks below a great, big kiss. Who knows? But whatever the reason, they were unable to find their way to the hireling vendor.
I always use Favored Soul hirelings; they have more SP and I get more heals for my hard earned plat. Besides, if a person is going to buy a hireling, ninety-five percent of the time what they are after is a healer (I mean come on, a Sorcerer hireling, really?) It just seems redundant to me to leave out a class that is designed to do one thing and one thing only: cure my {insert variable here} wounds.
So yeah, oh woe is me having to spend three times the plat on my healer. But its never about the plat, rather, it is about the principle.
