Anyone having troubles getting the rogue hireling (lvl 20) to open the doors to the optional chest "Mindsunder" room? I put in a bug report...

I can't remember if those can even be picked. There are keys around if you look for them... 3 of them before the Phiarlan area.

While I can't recall if those particular doors are pickable or not, I do know that currently rogue hirelings have the same issue as all hirelings: if they can't succeed, they don't give any feedback message to tell you this, and will stand there staring into space (e.g. runes they're not smart enough for, levers/doors they're not strong enough to open, and locks that can't be picked). Also keep in mind that if the door is pickable, Hirelings are not like a bell of opening, and must pass a skill check the same as any rogue player must.

They are pickable, and a lv 20 rogue should have no problems picking them. They are too high for a knock spell though.

Thanks for responding in thread Tolero.

But yes, I know that those locks are pickable - even by an 18Wiz/2Rogue with non maxed open lock or GH or twink gear. I think the DC that's been quoted to me for these locked doors is somewhere around 55, which should be definitely doable for a lvl 20 rogue hireling.

Is he supposed to at least do the 'picking' action if he fails the roll on pickable items? I've got one who just stands there like a lump when i ask him to unlock chests (the one behind the hidden doors in Eyes of Stone in particular).. seems to find the secret doors in there just fine though..

Same exact problem here...if they aren't going to do simple things like this, why bother?

same again, 70 points totally wasted on something useless. tried a level 6 first, then a level 17. my rogue splash with 3 skill points in open lock and a total of +15 open lock can get that chest why the hell cant a level 17. i know there have always been problems with hirelings taking shrines etc, but putting something in the store that doesnt work with NEW content isnt right at all...

Will the Rogue hirelings open any chests?

I too was very frustrated just now with trying to get the level 17 one to unlock the chest in Eyes of Stone. No response from the hireling at all, just standing there staring at me. Only 40 TP down the drain, but still is extraordinarily annoying to waste that for no reason.

I had the same problem yesterday, when I moused over the hireling's open lock, it says can not use until trained. makes me wonder if they even put skill points into the open locks on the hirelings.

If they didn't, and it isn't an oversight, that is monumentally stupid.

Ya gotta give them a break though .. It is their first rogue and everyone knows you screw up your first rogue something awful!

I haven't tried running the rogue hireling out there again, has anyone seen a rogue hireling successfully open anything at this point?
