Does anyone use the Symbol Spells?

and if so, When and Where?

I've heard they're pretty useless, if your're a wiz and want to mess around with them maybe you can find some situational utility for them. but as a sorc I would advise against taking any of these spells and sticking to what the sorc does best, nuking things into oblivion.

Symbol of Stunning and Persuasion are the best ones, IMO.

Just be careful not to use Persuasion in places where you have to kill certain (or certain # of) mobs, as you can't use dismiss charm on it (Break Enchantment works but can be unreliable). It's especially nice in epics.

if you think crowd control and such are bad for a sorc, then you're missing out on a lot. not saying the symbol spells are a good choice for a sorcerer, mind you, but crowd control, charms, etc are actually great for sorcerers, if you have the charisma/DC to support it.

I've found some uses for Symbol of Pain. It works well on the Stormreaver and a few other semi-surprising large/tough creatures.

I use Symbol of Flame as a low level substitute for Blade Barrier on clerics (levels 7-10).

Symbol of Pain is a staple spell I carry on any divine or arcane. For arcanes I tend to use it at the beginning of boss fights that take about 7 or more spells to drop (Cholthulzz, Cinnis, Frenzied Fire Elemental, Madstone Seer). For divines I try to aim it into the middle of blade barriers, being critters will be going in and out of it anyhow.

Symbol of Persuasion is something I tend to use for quite a few of the Gianthold quests, Rainbow in the Dark, Coalescence Chamber, Flesh Maker's Lab air elementals, An Offering of Blood, and quite a few other places where charm is a good method of pacifying large amounts of creatures or stopping respawns.

I find I seldom use Symbol of Stunning (probably because I seldom do Epic Difficulty), but as a way to flatfoot stun several targets for up to 20 seconds it is handy.

If Symbol of Weakness wasn't bugged (the effect stops when creatures exit the symbol or the symbol disappears) I can assure that I would add this to my list of used spells for specific occasions, especially being it works on undead.

Symbol of Death is among the only symbol spell I fully neglect.

I usually only use symbol of pain out of symbols, as a debuff.
