Is it just on Ghallanda, or is 8am EST the time when vendors don't work, banks close up and explorer areas rubber band?

Is this a known issue? System backups? Something else?

Edit: and perhaps more importantly, can the impact be reduced?

Dunno about all those different timezones but I can tell you this:

Every day at about the same time, vendors stop working and auctions work slow as well....

It's a conspiracy!

As far as I know, its been like that since the weekly downtime on Monday stopped. Turbine has never admitted what sort of maintenance they are doing, but that seems to be the tradeoff.

My guess is it is a system scan. It happens every day and lasts about an hour.

Nope, happens every morning about the same time, never seen it last longer then a half hour and it only seems to affect bank / vendors for me. Not seen the explorer area issue nor do my dungeons lag.

Ever since the character transfer on Ghallanda the server got bit more laggy due to little overcrowd i guess :( nothing to do about it :( (i really don't mean to offend all the transferred players)

Scuttlebutt says it is the server backing itself up (which is a good thing), so just hunker down and weather the storm. You'll be glad of it if the server crashes. And it's been going on for a long time.

Still going on in Thelanis, wipped part 4 since no heals could land. Havent been able to sell/repair since i logged in at 8:30 Est, its now after 10 Est.

If you don't have five or six marketplace instances going and it is doing this, then there might be a larger issue.

They should auto code loot bonuses and xp bonuses for that hour - your playtime gets delayed and it's frustrating.... every day.

We used to have this problem in Europe, around 0:30-2 AM IIRC, and we had it even worse -- but Codemasters actually managed to fix it.

I've no idea why Turbine can't do the same... :(
