View Full Version : Elfy the Multiple Personality Disorder Healer

I'm looking at TRing my Wizard into a Favored Soul (maaybe Cleric or back into Wiz, but probably not)... it'll be pretty much a waste of a past life feat, but an extra two build points are an extra two build points and I don't want to create a 5th toon to cap.

I'm looking at one of four builds. Each one should be able to fully function as a main healer, melee competently (basically, I would like to be able to fill a DPS slot (and not heal) in a group and not just be wasting space), and have the ability to cast 7th level arcane scrolls with at least a 60% success rate. They're all at least elf-flavored. I'm not going to include gear with anything, and enhancements are more or less being eyeballed.

These are all 34 point builds.

Build 1: Elf

FvS18/Rog2

Str 15 (+5 levels)
Dex 16
Con 12
Int 14
Wis 10
Cha 14

Quicken, Empower Healing, Greater TWF (and prereqs), Toughness, IC: Slashing

Longswords or scimitars, corresponding racial weapon enhancements, racial toughness, life magic, full UMD and Concentration, rest into balance.

Build 2: Drow

Exactly the same as above, except using shortswords. Main reason for this build would be to avoid the penalty for not having OTWF. Not a *huge* fan of Drow or shortswords so I'm not as attracted to this build even though it would be better than build 1.

Build 3: Half-Elf

FvS18/Mnk2

Str 15 (+4 levels and +1 racial)
Dex 15
Con 14 (+1 level +1 racial)
Int 14*
Wis 8*
Cha 14*

Quicken, Empower Healing, Greater TWF (and prereqs), Toughness, IC: Slashing, 2 of (OTWF, Extend, Maximize, PA)

Similar skills and enhancements as everything else. Wizard or Sorc dilettante for access for arcane scrolls and wands. Wiz would give me a +10% success chance for level 6 and 7 scrolls, but requires a larger investment into Int... Sorc would let me put the 6 stat points I put into int into Wis or Charisma. Disadvantage of this build is that I lose the +2 to-hit and damage from racial weapon enhancements, but the two additional feats may make up for it. I could also use kamas as an off-hand weapon to avoid the need for OTWF when the extra to-hit bonus would matter.

Build 4: Half-Elf

FvS20

Str 17 (+4 levels and +1 racial)
Dex 10
Con 14 (+1 level +1 racial)
Int 13*
Wis 10*
Cha 14*

Feats:
Quicken, Empower Healing, Maximize, Extend, Toughness, IC: Slashing, Power Attack

This makes for a stronger healer, but at the expense of TWF. Fortunately, there shouldn't be much of a problem fitting in power attack and I'm able to raise strength by 2 points, so the penalty to DPS might not be all that bad. I'm not really familiar enough with working with DPS characters to know how big of a difference it would make.

I'm just wondering if there are any strengths or weaknesses to the builds that I might not be thinking of, or ones that I *have* thought of that really aren't that big of a deal.

Thanks.

Why waste a past life?

Why Elf?

If the goal of your character is fun and flavor, build is really unimportant.

If your goal is high effectiveness, your flavor choices might be at odds with this.

My main is elf 18fvs/2monk 18 STR (+5 level ups), 14 CON, 12-14 CHA, 15+2tome DEX, dump int, wis
Feats: GTWF, toughness, IC:slash, P.A., maximize, extend, quicken
Skills: concentration, umd
Full equipped it's simply unstoppable. The only weakness it's the farm needed to have all the equipment he needs to be great

It's either waste a past life, have an inactive toon around that tempts me to play it, or delete a level 20 character. Of the three, getting an extra 2 build points and a pretty unuseful past life feat seems like the best option.

Why elf? No particular reason other than I like them. Half-Elf makes a lot of sense so I have access to arcane scrolls (frankly I'm just not interested in life without Teleport) and wands. Elf and Drow are nice for the weapon enhancements, but that may not be worth it if I'm going to lose feats or level 20 of fvs to get them.

And, well, if a build is ineffective at everything... it's not going to be much fun to play. It needs to be good at *something* or there's really no point of playing it in an MMO.

Radiance, I'm definitely thinking about going with the 18/2 split you have, just on a half-elf. I do wonder how much of a difference losing the weapon enhancements would have, and if OTWF really *can* be skipped. Adding in a desire for access to arcane magic makes things tricky.

Why elf?+2 to hit and damage with scimitars

You can UMD scrolls. With the right equipment OTWF is not needed, I have toughness, maximize, extend, quicken, 3xTWF, IC:slash, power attack, buffed and with morgana and dragon knight sets I have few problems to hit. I could make eSpectral gloves, but I don't really need them.
