Several days ago I was running Litany of the Dead, flagging for the Abbot raid. I had the lvl 15 cleric hireling with me. Upon completion of the quest (went down the Cholthuzz side), we went outside to break the crystals at the end and the hireling remained in the group. we recalled out to the necropolis and the hireling stil stayed in the group, but the control bar had disappeared.

i tried to dismiss her, didnt work.

i tried dropping group, didnt work

i tried logging out, didnt work

i tried going back into the quest, but without the toolbar, I had no control over her. she was standing right where i left her.....by the end chest.

i recalled out, and tried all o the above steps again, didnt work.

eventually, we broke up the entire group. the hireling stayed with the person who became the leader (by default). she eventually "disappeared" approximately 1 minute after the group separated.

the following night, I used the lvl 16 cleric and had the same issue when i forgot to dismiss her previous to our exiting into the orchard to break the crystals.

when i repeated the quest, to do another side, i found out that I had to wait 5 minutes before i could summon her again, even though we completed the quest before her dismissal. how inconvinient, but i do understand why you would make someone wait 5 minutes between summons, it was still irritating because i feel i should not have had to wait since we did complete.

Make sure your hireling is set to follow and not stand in place. I have noticed hirelings will remain in quest if they are not set to follow.

It was definitely set to follow, in fact it was set to "fire at will" or w/e the setting is to be active and "sentient", doing as it sees fit.

i think it was just that particular quest, beign that you actually complete the quest long before you finish and also the fact that you leave the instance to break the crystal sat the end to get credit for defeating the particular boss.

i have never had any other problems with them, except thy are slow, even when hasted ...and are slow to react to commands for the most part....but, they serve their purpose and you learn to work with them.

Had something like this happen before with a party member, but with more hilarious results.

Formed a raid group of 12 people, hireling stayed in party but name disappeared from party list. Went into Shroud and hireling was there as 13th party member. No controls for hireling and it didn't perform all that well, but it got right in on Arretreikos in pt 5 :)
