View Full Version : Ideas for PvP

Here are a couple Ideas I thought of that would make Pvp more fun :D
1) Most DDO players enjoy PvP (Player versus Player) because of the ability to fight other in-game players. The problem is that most PvPers stay in PvP all of the time they play and do not increase their level. I was thinking that DDO should give EXP rewards for killing a player around your level range.
2) A lot of casters in DDO use firewall, cloudkill, danceball ETC as their favorite spells. I think we should allow AOE spells in the general arena.
3) Set different instances for PvP because It kinda stinks to be level 6 and new to the game and go in your first PvP and get your @$$ tanned by deanmachine :p

There should never be XP rewards for PvP. Never.
It's their choice to spend time in the taverns instead of questing, and so be it.

LMAO, OMG, that's the best joke I've heard all day!
The problem is that most PvPers stay in PvP all of the time they play and do not increase their level. I was thinking that DDO should give EXP rewards for killing a player around your level range.
So I two box it, fight myself a lot, and autolevel. Nice, and not at all exploitable
No. No rewards for PVP, ever. The Devs have said it repeatedly, the community has demanded it repeatedly. No, never.
Go quest.

I'm not sure why those aren't allowed, but you can go into the formal PvP system and use them, just not in the pits. The fact that they don't even allow that stuff in PvE public instances like the marketplace and Delaras tells me there is a good technical reason it isn't in the pit either.
3) Set different instances for PvP because It kinda stinks to be level 6 and new to the game and go in your first PvP and get your @$$ tanned by deanmachine :p
Isn't ganking why people like PvP pits?
Edit: And I think its perfect that your forum name is considered obscene by the forum filter lol

Even if I did enjoy PvP (which I don't) that would require more balancing between classes, divert development from other things I do consider important, and generally increase posts from h4x.
Sure, increasing posts from h4x gets me thru the occasional popcorn fix, but in general it's still a bad decision to make changes like that in what is still just a diversion from the real game. ;)

I do myself like PvP.
I don't expect any kind of reward for it, other than laughing at nerdrage when I kill someone's uber build. :D
The community on the forums, however, seems mostly against PvP. ^^ In case you can't tell.
Overall, I like where the PvP is in this game.
Separate instances by level would be nice, but not as entertaining as the current system, where you have some geek getting angry and wiping out the entire pit on his level 20 uber wizard/rogue melee 17 TR build. :D
Edit: Ninja!

Just looking at the quoted text above... anyone else find it deliciously ironic that the OP could make his name what it is - only to have the word filter kick in afterward? :D

Too late.

1) Most DDO players enjoy PvP (Player versus Player) GAH! because of the ability to fight other in-game players insightful. The problem is that most PvPers stay in PvP all of the time they play and do not increase their level This is a choice. I was thinking that DDO should give EXP rewards for killing a player around your level range. Only as long as it is negative.
2) A lot of casters in DDO use firewall, cloudkill, danceball ETC as their favorite spells. I think we should allow AOE spells in the general arena. I really don't care about this, except to say, this would end PvP. So maybe it'd be good.
3) Set different instances for PvP because It kinda stinks to be level 6 and new to the game and go in your first PvP and get your @$$ tanned by deanmachine There are. Set up those challenges!

Have you ever actually read through the forums OP?
Very few people like PvP in this game, most people abhor it so much that anyone who posts about it will get -15 rep in one second (one of my suggestions actually had this happen, a few of the people who neg-repped me actually supported some of my ideas after reading the darn thing >>...idiots)
Nobody is going to support this concept because PvP plays an extremely minor role in DDO. Also you're suggesting things that could potentially cause even more lag in major PvE taverns in the game. Experience rewards for PvP are so exploitable that I never want to see it!
