It's getting way past old, to wait forever to log on,only to get into blue bar load sometimes 2 minutes. After a long wait I really enjoy not being able to use the auction house, sell to a vendor, or use my bank or even go from any house to MP without another long wait. Point is I pay for these basic( yes basic) services and I exspect them to be 100% available when I want. Cool thing is the DDO store always works! That must be the top priority, being able to pay for turbine points..oh well rant over

This is usually the case in a overpopulated server it might be time to change...

One solution I would like to see is for turbine to create some servers that are for the P2P people only. I argee that we deserve better since we are the ones actually paying for this service. Let any other service you pay for supply you with some of the conditions we deal with here and you would be on the phone telling someone off. The P2P people need some love from the game not more grief. Please do something to fix this.

correct me if I am wrong but isnt ghallanda also the dump server for all the euro ppl coming over from the codemaster switch. This can cause a huge load on the server especially during primetime hours when euros are waking up to late night.

Simple things that can be done for P2P:
1- Immediately jump to the head of the login queue.
2- For public instances (market, harbor, etc), make 1-3 of them for p2p only. You can still go to any one you want, but a few of them are for P2P only. keep the kids in their own rooms and out of mine.
I know without a doubt that these 2 things can be implemented. I've seen, and used, them in various other games.
Still though, the by far the best thing Turbine could do for the P2P folks is to give us 1 or 2 P2P ONLY servers and offer 2 or 3 free character transfers to populate them with.

Here are some better solutions... Get a better internet connection, use a better computer, and/or tweak your game settings for better performance. I have a connection of 30 up/ 30 down. My computer is old; 2.8Ghz P4 HT, nvidia 7600gs (512MB), and 1gig of ram. My games settings are set to slightly below "normal" for certain settings, normal for most, and high for others. It takes about 20-30 seconds for the game to load up (blue bar), and about 10 seconds for my character to move without "lag" in the game, when I first have my character pop up on my screen. The only other time it lags, is when I'm in a heavily populated area; like House J when the 1st two previews of the Mabar event were going on. Even then, it only take about 5 seconds of me intentionally not moving my character, to be able to move at full speed. I've also played during EU's primetime (3pm EST) & N. Americans' primetime (8-10pm EST), and don't notice a difference from now to before the EU servers closing. I strongly recommend checking things on your end, before automatically assuming it's on Turbine's end.

Close your DDO client in between re-logging characters. What you're describing sounds to me like the known issue relating to the client and your own computer in DDO. For me, the workaround of closing the client has all but eliminated the complaints you describe here.

Rights?
Yeah, I thought the EULA outlined our "rights" were limited to something like, "You have the right to create multiple threads, mouth off to tarrant and the devs, then cancel your account while knowing that no one will care."

The leader of one of the guilds I'm in, is in the Netherlands. He logs in and out 2 to 3 times faster than I do (East coast of the U.S.). How high is your latency? Have you tried any kind of port forwarding, to alleviate the problem?

what I find most interesting about this thread and others like it is the strong belief that there is an extremely large player population that is completely F2p.
I find it very amusing that F2pers have become this phantom menace that gets blamed for every little problem that some people have.
"Man, PUGs suck now because of F2pers"
"Lag has really sucked lately thanks to those F2pers"
etc etc.....
I got news for you f2p hates all that stuff suck back in the day as well.
P.S. OP speed test your internet connection perhaps it is not as fast as you think it is.

you experienced once in a day server lag that usually clears in few minutes, if you are lagging all the time, then search for other problems than server/Turbine. symptoms you described fit perfectly for server lag, but like i said, it will pass
alltho sure, it can be annoying if you happend to log on every day same time just to catch that once per 24h server lag event :D
Lagfest? :D

lagmotes, killing lagosaurus?
A little bit of lag now and then isnt a large price to play on this server we have many fine people here and finding the same about or transfered in brothers and sisters hope they decide to stay and not transfer to other servers. Of course the reason I play here is for some reason I get lots of lag on khyber.
