How old is ddo?

I wonder, how old ddo is. Since now update 8 is coming and it is 4th update since I began to play (in may), I'd guess about a year, if the rate of updates comnigs was alway like this. On the other hand, it runs smoothly on my 6 years old comp, so it looks like it is pretty old game...

Game's beta (orginal beta was back in '06 Jan/Feb) I started playing in Mar '06 ..so just about 4 or so years old

THere were 9 "Module" updates to the original DDO before it became DDO Unlimited.

so this is the 17th update to the game

So what about that rate of updates comnigs? Did it take so long until update 1 was released or did the rate of releasing increased?

Like the other posters said the game launched on February 28th, 2006, but it relaunched as F2P September 1st, 2009.

Before the game went F2P Modules were the content updates, they were larger than updates and less frequent.

Since the game has gone F2P content updates are called updates, they're smaller and more frequent.

WHen DDO switched to DDO Unlimited, the plan was an update every month as I recall. THey have been averaging about 40-50 days I guess....

Updates were pretty regular in the old days except for the dark age where we went about a year and a half without one... THat was a very dissapointing time in DDO...
