Essence of Horror [green] drop rate.

I've got some stuff to upgrade in DD, so I went farming essences to make a disc. That's the first time I'm after the disc, so I've no experience with essence farming.
The question is: am I really unlucky with green ones having only 4 of them among 30 total, or is the drop rate low, and I will have to run ~45 of those quests to make a set of 24 essences?

4 in 30 is about right in my experience...I always end up with far more blue, red and yellow than I do green.

do the solo quest, drops a green over 50% of the time...

Both Yellow and Green drop from Giants Vault....and they are BtA....so a couple of ransacks should get you what you need.

I must be doing something wrong...I always ended up with more Greens than any other color, having had them replace the colors tied to specific quests roughly half the time.

Hmm, I'll try more runs in the solo quest. I ransacked other two on the island already, and farmed Titan for more greens. Did solo once, but got yellow, and since it seemed longer than other island quests, I haven't tried more runs. Thanks for answers.

solo quest has the highest chance to drop what you need, so that is where you need to farm. i generally get enough ransacking mining for ancient xp, i mean secrets :D

I always get a ridiculous number of greens compared to the other colors. I thought this post was going to be a request to lower the drop rate since greens can come from any of the quests and they clog up the ability to get the others.

Vault should average 5 min or so..7-8 if you want all the optionals

I was hoping to get enough greens while trying for other colors - I thought it'll be enough, since they can drop in any quest.
I did non-solo island quests to ransack, got 1 green out of there, another 3 greens from the Titan quest. I did the solo quest once, got yellow essence. Going to follow the advice, and ransack the solo quest too - see how it goes.

Maybe it has something to do with difficulty settings, I ran islands quest solo on normal only, 1 green out there. Eye of the Titan I did most runs on casual 'cos boss fight proves a tad harsh and pot intensive for lvl17 monk solo on normal. Possibly solo diffculty for solo quest is like casual for others and more greens drop. Any of you overflowing with green essences remembers the diff setting of quests you ran?

Yeah, possibly it is a fast run when used to it. On my first and only run it took 10+ and I got ****ed off with falling down in similar manner to Coal.Chamber climb couple of times, so I didn't repeat it. Will do though. Need 2 more green disks ASAP :)

I'd like to add my frustration to this thread. 11 runs on the island and got no random piece . How about a mechanism to trade 3 for 1 or some thing.

i think you are just unlucky.

i have run all the quests at least 50x each, over xp farms and eardweller and essence farming. some people tend to get too many greens, some too few.

in my experience, watching other people's drops also, the green droprate is about 25% for all 4 quests. it evens out if you run enough times. if your luck sucks, try to ask if you can trade with other people in your party while its still in the chest.

A better strategy is to farm dreaming dark on casual. Every 3 runs, you get an end reward list that has a good chance at either a few complete shards (each is worth 1 of each essence), or even a complete disc (worth 8 of each, one disc upgrades one item). I've seen maybe a dozen end rewards and have seen the whole disc a couple times, so its not super rare. Plus you can get a decent Ioun stone on the runs without a disc.

You can exchange the different essences in the Dreamforge. One of each of the other three colors make the essence of the one you want.
