View Full Version : Problems with PUGs..

I seem to be having the worst possible luck with PUGs, I am a new player and don't have any RL mates currently playing so PUGs are the way I have to go. I completed a good few of the Korthos island quests up to Hard difficulty with hirelings and thought I'd try the elite difficulty with some 'real people'. I put on looking for group and said I wanted to try some Elite and then I waited. And waited, and waited, anyway you get the idea. Another time I did it a toon grouped up, ran to the quest door and entered it on casual! They also ignored every tell/chat etc I did to them with bits of advice about what was coming etc. I know PUGs are very random anyway but it is quite disheartening. I play on Orion and wonder if the PUG scene any better on other servers?
Thanks for listening to a rant!

Korthos is maybe the worst example for Pugs. Keep in mind that this is the area where all the very new people will play even if they are 6 year old kids.
The more you advance in level the better it gets in the pug scene (usually). Of course you can always get complete noobs who dont listen but you will get the most on Korthos Island :)

I also play on Orion and am a new ftp player and so far pugs have generally been ok, some groups have wanted to zerg or race through, others want to net all the xp bonuses etc. Your going to get nubs in any game or server, that basically won't listen ever, best to just /sigh and find another group or guild. Agree with above though, your pug players will get better after korthos like harbor and so on.
The worst pug I have been in so far was my own group that I set up because a muck spawn happened, got a load to join killed muck opened the chest and everyone got muckbane as a drop except me. /sigh
Pugs will get better as you increase in levels. In addition, PUGs will be better on non-free to play content.

You don't have to go it alone. Find a guild that suits you and join up there are always guilds looking for people. Still as the others mentioned the PUG's tend to be pretty good later. Most of the time anymore (lvl 10-14) when I join (or start) a PUG I'm actually the worst player in the group lol.

Everyone Loves PUGS - Even if they Love to Hate Them :)
