Read the whole thread before posting.
A while ago I thought of a spinoff of Kobold Assault: Kobold Attack (level 8 party 2,000 Kobolds+ some reptilian boss EDIT: Boss is Lizard King (read on)) and Kobold Invasion (Raid 17, 20,000 Kobolds +Green Dragon endboss followed by a Black Dragon endboss+ Optional 30,000 kobolds.). Kobold Attack would be like Kobold Assault but tougher, however, Kobold Invasion would have a little more plot. I'd like feedback on this!

I think you enjoy slaughtering Kobolds too much! maybe you should go to a specialist to talk about this violent urges against small reptiles?

On another part here, what would the Kobold Attack boss be? Can't think of a Reptilian around level 8-10.

Oops, forgot to mention: the Kobold Invasion takes place in the Marketplace, much like the new Chronoscope, only every sewer suddenly overflows with Kobolds and the lids go flying into the air.

kobold assault where kobolds get replaced by devils, orthons and undead good beholders and maybe some dragon there too (while protecting npc for those who really love challenge)

Great cause it isn't dull enough waiting in an instance at level 3 or 4 for 200 kobolds to spawn. So now we have to do it again at level 8 and this time wait for ten times as many.
Sorry I just don't like any of the quests where you have to wait for spawns. Cannith crystal , redemption , protect baudrys intrests , kobold assualt ... Ect ect

Actually, I calculated that Kobld Assault has about 13.3 KpM, whereas Kobold Attack would be 100 KpM, so it would be almost as long and 0 wait.

I enjoy killing lots of little kobolds, too!
Another option would be DDO adding goblins, and having some major goblin invasion where you get to kill hundreds of them. Bosses could be some orc warlords or something like that. I think that goblins could be as annoying, if not more annoying, than kobolds - but that would make them even more gratifying to kill.

I would sign up for this if you have the "Kobold Invasion" quest available without any shrines and random kobolds wielding vorpals just like kasquick so it would be awesome!

The Vorpals kind of ruin the concept of slaughter and "if you leave the Blade Barriers, Firewalls, etc you will have the effect of being hacked apart by thousands of nail files."

Well it'll be boring then if you only have non vorpal kobold hordes attacking your intimitank while the rest of the group sits back and throw whatever towards where the tank is ad infinitum.
You gotta give the kobolds a fighting chance to make this quest suggestion enjoyable :)

Something like Kasquick the Mighty from the Vale would be nice, guarded/escorted by heavily armored angry kobolds and regally draped shamans w/ pointy sticks. :)

Okay, so the Kobolds get the lids on the sewers (about 100 of these) which are nigh-impenetrable and you have to get behind them while being hit by the lag of literally thousands of kobolds. Plus, tanks don't get Shield or Nightshield, so Magic Missile gets to them. Not much, but 5,000 or so can kill pretty quick. :)

Yup, Lizard King has 8 HD (for those who don't play AD&D: HD is the monster's level). Plus, the spearing trident ought to be interesting.
This leads me to two slightly off-topic ideas. The first is, why not add spears and a few other such weapons?
Secondly, why not use a bunch of things from AD&D? Seeing some of Grimtooth's Traps in effect would be hilarious. So would seeing Tiamat spew lightning all over the barbarian (except that we healers would have to clean up the bloody mess).
Anyway, ignore that, I'll just make it into new threads later.

One slight miscalculation. The first part would last approx 80 minutes, assuming you can constantly slaughter the Kobolds. The nightshield clicky lasts about half an hour if you use all the charges, plus, the UMD for the wands is about 24, so that means they'd have to spend unnecessary skill points just for one quest, and what happens if they fail a couple times? Short of wasting tons of skill points, it's just not possible to remain fully protected through the whole thing, especially due to the Lag Factor. In other words, healers have to spam Mass Heals, or have their party get hacked apart by many, many, nail files :).:)

Just realized something. You would have to 1) have UMD 24, 2) have perfect timing: if you cast it before the previous one ended, you'd waste a few seconds, too late, and you get nailed by hundreds of Magic Missiles. I guess you could get a lot of wands, but it's kind of wasteful. 3) it's not easy to switch to a robe, wand, etc if you have hundreds or maybe even thousands of kobolds attacking. Can anyone think of any other reasons why tanks wouldn't be able to use Shield?
On another note, I guess there could be no Resurrection Shrines. And if you try to get inside the Phoenix Tavern for the Rest Shrine, you run the risk of dozens of kobolds coming after you, and bad stuff happens if random citizens die because of that.
On yet ANOTHER note, why not add Lizard Men minions? They wouldn't count as "Kobolds", so they wouldn't further the quest, except maybe as an optional. Voila, you've got damage raining down on the barbarians that gets past their DR.

First Question: what will be the name of the Lizard King? Second, what will be the name of the dragon (it morphs when you kill it the first time, illusion or whatever)?

Not at once, if you look at post 1, I made a measurement of Kobolds per Minute (KpM). It's an average of 1,000 KpM for Kobold Invasion. Of course, it ranges from an actual 500 to 2,000 KpM for the Optional. And there's the dragons. And Lizard Men. Yark!

A great kobold general would just say, "Yark! We hatez them forever! Yark Yark!!!~ Charge!!!~" and not measure KpM for the sake of DA and whatever reasons human attributes to their overconfidence and demise.

Why not also add another quest: Kobold Conquest.

Mission: Survive 60 minutes (this means at least one person is alive)
Optionals: Don't die 60 minutes
Don't wipe out for 80 minutes
Then 100 minutes
Then 120 minutes
Then 140 minutes
Then 160 minutes
Then 180 minutes
Kill the 3 black dragons
Don't die for any of the times above

(reenter the kobold dun count, that has another backstory)
If there would be a next next sequel, you'd be right up against sinvala.
After all, you can only kill so much kobolds before making enemies with the bigger scales in the swamp.
Besides, how are Hobgoblins at all connected to Kobolds there? And just because it has "Kobold" in the name doesn't mean it's in that exact plot line. It has to be Kobolds attacking in one way or another.

As a summary:
Thousands of kobolds, most of it melee trash with about a third casters, spamming magic missile and shooting like 40-point lightning bolts and fireballs.
The kobold melees ought to all have vorpals, and the kobold throwers should throw rogue grenades.
You should also have to protect like a small fort of civillians and buildings, and there could be a bunch of generic NPC warriors as well.
Then it all ends with a boss fight with Kasquik or a Trog King, plus a few optional dragons that are brought in at the same time. It should be a fight against time: the kobold army should overwhelm the city unless you are constantly monitoring them.
I mean, after CC, which was a bit unorthodox in its goals, an interesting quest like this could be fun. I don't like the thought of giving away any kind of good gear; it should be a 'for fun' XP/favor quest or something.
That's all I have to offer I guess.

2) Deathward. It can just get renewed by the healers. Rogue grenades-maybe.
3) Maybe the bank...? I don't think the Coin Lords care one bit about the civilians (making for another quest idea...).
4) A Lizard King is a monster from AD&D with a Trident that basically has vorpal. It'll take place in the 2,000 Kobold Attack. Kobold Invasion will have... 2 dragons as the boss. Fought one after another. No shrining.
5) Yeah, CC was a bit dull the 12th time. Look, if you're fighting one baby dragon, you deserve some decent loot. 2 Velah-sized dragons...In a row... no shrining... deserves amazing loot. Especially after going through that lag. The lag. The lag!The lag! THE LAG!! THE LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can see the attraction of some sort of sequel to "Kobold Assault" and a full scale invasion sounds fun, but....
I think you also need to give some thought to the capabilities of the servers to cope with controlling so many monsters at once. I seem to remember that we have suffered major lag problems during special events that put a big load on the server. I think its possible that trying to control 2 billion kobolds at once might crash any machine on the planet.
Perhaps you should give some thought on how to stage various waves of attack in your scenario to limit the number of live monsters at any one time.

Read the whole thread before posting.
A while ago I thought of a spinoff of Kobold Assault: Kobold Attack (level 8 party 2,000 Kobolds+ some reptilian boss EDIT: Boss is Lizard King (read on)) and Kobold Invasion (Raid 17, 20,000 Kobolds +Green Dragon endboss followed by a Black Dragon endboss+ Optional 30,000 kobolds.). Kobold Attack would be like Kobold Assault but tougher, however, Kobold Invasion would have a little more plot. I'd like feedback on this!
This kind of reminds me of Devil's Assault.

Ooooo... I kinda like this idea. Only, instead of it being the Kobold Assault-style defend-the-fortress quest, it could be an invade-the-fortress quest. Fight your way through wave after wave of kobolds to make it to the fortress and get inside.
On another part here, what would the Kobold Attack boss be? Can't think of a Reptilian around level 8-10.

I like the idea of the mini-bosses, maybe put them outside on the island, leading the legions of kobolds, or positioned strategically, and then put the juvenile dragon (I like the sound of the black one mentioned) inside the fortress. Perhaps the inside of the fortress could be more dungeon-like, to contrast the island landscape exterior, but a wide-open arena-type interior of the fortress would probably be just as fun.
Stormreach is a prosperous area, there's certainly reason for an up-and-coming young dragon to want to set-up operations nearby.
