Quick question... anyone know the website that Turbine DDO uses for their running servers? Well more like the website address. I would like to know so I can rewrite my MTU to have fewer hops from my place here on the west coast back to the east coast. The ping at 187 sucks and is now unplayable. Done everything else that I can. >< Windows 7 also is not a "gaming" hosted compality. Turned off all the latency from the windows 7 files with a rewrite of a new HKEY and turned off the nagle algorithm. Ping down to 97 between here and there. I need that extra 20 ping down to run a smooth game without the latency. I mean come on... who wants a healer that cant heal due to lag?

You might be able to learn the IP by running a check of your connections in a command prompt while the game is running. However, I haven't run one of those checks in quite a few years, so I've forgotten what to type into the CPrompt. :(

Check your launcher logs for IP addys of all servers.
Assuming on Vista / Win7:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Turbine\Dungeons and Dragons Online\Launcher
Look at any of the log files located therein.

Hmm alrighty then. Thanks guys. Ill run another ping test but I hope my new baby... when it gets here... will fix the problem without messing with to many things. I am getting the new E Series router. Hope that works out my lag other wise it is ISP calling time!

A Cisco E series? My brother picked up an E2000 a couple months ago, works like a dream. Used to have problems with disconnecting while we were using a Belkin Wireless N router, but since the upgrade, not a single disconnect... unless you count my 'net going out b/c of weather.

Yeah but it is the E1000 Series of it. A small step down from the E2000 that you talk about. It looks so sweet and is being sold for the holidays (not black friday) for like $50 on walmart.com. I asked for that as a christmas gift. ^^ I have the old Linksys Wireless G hook-up >< It tends to give ALL the internet connection to the main computer and gives me the left overs for gaming. My pings are better then normal but downloads and gaming sucks cause he takes it all when we party

Try netstat. Maybe that will help you. For curiosity you can try tracert too.

O.o sorry for me to ask but what are they? Lol. <--- is tired and trying to play a game but latency lag from the main comp is sucking

You need to get to the command prompt ( in Win7, Start, Run and then enter cmd.exe)
In the box that opens, type netstat -a, that will show all your net connections.
Here is the help for netstat:
Displays protocol statistics and current TCP/IP network connections.
NETSTAT [-a] [-b] [-e] [-f] [-n] [-o] [-p proto] [-r] [-s] [-t] [interval]
-a Displays all connections and listening ports.
-b Displays the executable involved in creating each connection or
listening port. In some cases well-known executables host
multiple independent components, and in these cases the
sequence of components involved in creating the connection
or listening port is displayed. In this case the executable
name is in [] at the bottom, on top is the component it called,
and so forth until TCP/IP was reached. Note that this option
can be time-consuming and will fail unless you have sufficient
permissions.
-e Displays Ethernet statistics. This may be combined with the -s
option.
-f Displays Fully Qualified Domain Names (FQDN) for foreign
addresses.
-n Displays addresses and port numbers in numerical form.
-o Displays the owning process ID associated with each connection.
-p proto Shows connections for the protocol specified by proto; proto
may be any of: TCP, UDP, TCPv6, or UDPv6. If used with the -s
option to display per-protocol statistics, proto may be any of:
IP, IPv6, ICMP, ICMPv6, TCP, TCPv6, UDP, or UDPv6.
-r Displays the routing table.
-s Displays per-protocol statistics. By default, statistics are
shown for IP, IPv6, ICMP, ICMPv6, TCP, TCPv6, UDP, and UDPv6;
the -p option may be used to specify a subset of the default.
-t Displays the current connection offload state.
interval Redisplays selected statistics, pausing interval seconds
between each display. Press CTRL+C to stop redisplaying
statistics. If omitted, netstat will print the current
configuration information once.

O_O Dell44....... you are my CMD savior! I am going to go save that right now and give it a try. I have been running CMD for some time but I dont touch it unless I know what prompt I want to put in it.

Thanks so much! That's the CPrompt command that I was trying to think of in my earlier post, but had forgotten!

Glad you got this sorted out but 187 isn't horrible from my experiences... don't forget the location in game can add lag, Such as a market 1 overrun by player set traps, and that occasionally the servers themselves have hiccups.

Yeah I know as much. Thats the issue though. i will have no lag in the NORMAL lag places but when I run out to help with DQ flagging or even a lvl 1 quest for favor I lag out horriably. I can go wireless anywhere else and not have the lag issue but when I go wireless here (or even through the eathernet cord) I get laged out like no tomorrow. I needed the server's servers to run a few more tests with both of the comps. Either way... i think the Linksys E1000 will hopefully fix most of my issues.

You can also use "tracert" to get information about each router you pass through on the connection.
Simple yntax is "tracert [website or IP address]"... I use tracert www.turbine.com (http://www.turbine.com) just to get a general idea.
You will get results similar to:
Tracing route to webvip.turbine.com [74.201.102.41] over a maximum of 30 hops:

As you can see this will show every router your packets pass through. You can generally tell the location of each router by it's name... Hops 1 and 2 are my E2000 (for some reason they seem to keep their default name, Greenwillow in this case)
Hops 3 thru 8 are bouncing around Comcast's area routers to get to their Border router.
Hop 9 is Sprintlink, in San Jose.
Hop 10 I don't recognize the location (stk) unless there's a router in Jester's Haunt :D
Note: Up to this point you can see my pings are all less than 20ms.
Hop 11 is my first chokepoint (in Pennsylvania, I think)... all the pings from tat point on are greater than 90ms.
From there you can follow the path into Boston.
Hoe this helps.

IP2Location.com says its in Burlington Vermont. That is probably the major hub for Sprint in that area.

Hmmm. new command to me. I will have to try that before I go to fix my car up. And that is for EVERY server station my packets hop through? I am guessing it is alot. Oregon is far from Boston. But after the recent stuff I have checked I am begining to think it is just how old my router is and the fact its so old it does not have a QoS like both our comps do.

If you think it's your router that's causing some problems, you could go to the manufacturer's website and see if there's a firmware update you could download and install. Doing this helped my flakey router to become reliable.

Checked already. Nothing at all. The router I own right now is 4 years old. I personaly think its outdated. My own laptop is newer.

187 ms should be fine, ddo is not that much of a fps game, im quite sure if everything else runs seemlessly, you wont notice latency of 187 ms, its usually other aspects that appear as lag.
if its faulty router it would probably cause loss
if your frame rate is decent(fps); loss is 0% and latency 187ms and you still experience lag it cant be anything else than server side lag imo
have personally noticed 2nd case a lot in past months.

Oh trust me you do NOT know the half of it. Now come here... play ANY account on my computer and you will see. The main computer that is hooked up for the net takes it all away. I can play perfectly sitting in Nexus Games at the mall or even at the ER. Its either the router that both the computers must go off of or its something with the ISP or with the main computer settings.
