so with the update 8 notes available [ulr=http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=285623]here[/url] I noticed right away that there are still not Pre's for Sorc or FvS yet released. I am not sure I understand why sorc is taking so long to release (though to be fair as the last class to be released, I guess I can understand FvS being the last to receive theirs). Heck, even clerics got 1 - when oh when can we expect some sorc/fvs loving?

From what I understand the even numbered Updates are more for fixing then adding. (Although I would say it iffy on whether adding the Dilettante enhancements is a fix or an add :D)

Not to be a funhater, but couldn't one view sorc and fvs as a pre of sorts for wiz and cleric? Let's face it -- without the PREs, there's almost no reason to take a wizard or cleric over sorc/fvs these days. I know some will argue that point, but popular sentiment seems overwhelming. Before RS, was there any scenario in which people were seriously advocating rolling a cleric over a fvs?

The introduction of PRE's for wizard and cleric, have made those classes once again interesting enough to make the choice a relevant one. Neither choice (wiz/sorc, or fvs/clr) is a slam dunk now. There are still plenty of reasons one could summon to make either choice. If sorc and fvs were to get similarly powered PRE's, wouldn't we just go back to the old disequilibrium?

I respect that many would disagree, but wanted to raise the issue. I hope that the devs continue to consider the overall balance-of-choice factor as these things are contemplated.

In 3.5 prestige classes are available to any class the meets the pre reqs for them, Favored soul warpriest or radiant servant are possible for example.

In turn sorcs can be pale masters or arch magi.

I'd rather see these PrE's be added so I don't see a thread about "when are sorcs/fvs getting a pre" :P.

In all seriousness, I could never play a sorc. I've given it a shot but couldn't stand it, all for a few silly reasons of a) No switching spells and b) less spell slots in general and c) feat starved.

My wizard got his dc's to 40 for FoD and Wail, as well as has versatility. That's one of the reasons I play him (the other being I can solo quests as a squishy drow).

But I would love to see what Sorc PrE's would be, and how it would affect the current balance of power among wizards and sorcs. While Wizzies cast slower and have less sp they have more verstility and higher dc's and more feats. A sorc is pretty much the opposite, and a PrE suited to that would be badass.

That and my favorate D&D based villian is a Sorc.... Xykon the Lich XD

Small nitpick:
Radiant Servant requires Extra Turning, which requires the ability to turn undead, which a FvS can't do. They can qualify for Warpriest if they want however.

My basic point is that in PnP you can take on prestige classes, regardless of class as long as you meet the reqs.

My favorite build was a favored soul/weapon master (kensai).
