Hey all,
there was a guy in the harbor making racial and religious slurs for more than an hour, during which I stuck around to watch the show, and also cause I was farming WW. I have SS, but it's a biggg hassle to upload and all that.
If it was just a little line or two maybe I wouldn't think so much about it. But an hour! And during which, 7 out of 8 lines came from him! Accusations about the sexuality of prophets of other religions, the sexual habits of Asians, and a bit of my-dad-is-bigger-than-your-dad ("My goD wil SmaKK your God, if iT's a war leT it be, let ThE God win!").
I was trying to report him, but there was only harassment and gold farming, neither of which he really qualifies for. In this case - add a little bit of schadenfreude - I think it's actually worthwhile to pursue the matter because he's a not a level 1 Paladin (duh, innit?) made just to do this, but a level 10 toon. Hehe.
cheers.

Why read his posts an hour? Why not just squelch him?

unwanted/uncalled political/religious/ethnical confrontation is harassment for me.

File a ticket, state the player name and what is going on and where. The GMs will usually deal with it and close the ticket immediately as properly, they cannot tell you anything about disciplinary actions.

why not?
i was farming ww anyway. personally, i didn't fall into his target group, so it didn't affect me. however, i think it was uncalled for, and definitely need to be dealt with.
and, you're not in my target group either, unless you are who i'm talking about?

Actually, I think there was a post that stated that the way to resolve the issue is to /squelch and move on. I will find it.

many thanks! your search-fu is indeed strong :D
Our Code of Conduct basically says no obscenities. If someone says something that you don’t like, but it’s not necessarily obscene, then reporting it may not be the best option here
just to clarify, what counts as obscene? Calling Muhammad a gay, or claiming that Asians screw goats and their mothers, do those count?
(p.s. I'm not trying to challenge you, I know the tone might indicate otherwise but I couldn't phrase it better.)

I know what you are saying, and I would imagine that its a call you have to make yourself. That being said, the way I read it was that they would rather you just /squelch and move on unless it becomes a harrassment issue. Now if they start sending you tells saying that kind of stuff, THAT is when you report.

It obviously bothered you enough to post about it in the boards, and that should be enough of an indicator.
Common sense dictates. If it makes you uncomfortable, or if you feel it's likely making someone else (say, a party member, a guildie, a newb) uncomfortable, send the GMs a ticket.

Squelch 'em. Unless you actually pay, or like to use your personal time, to police ddo general chat. Any mmo, especially f2p, is going to have obnoxious, rude, and obscene comments in their general chat from time to time. If this is all new to you, welcome to the world of anonymity.
