The Coin Lords have deemed them unsafe?

Hmm, probably not...

A design fault renders them practically unusable?

Nah, I think we could see that...

Most likely they are reserved exclusively for tavern owners pets.

Occupied!

I said, OCCUPIED!

The devs have tried to address this issue.....

.....with little effect.

All your chairs are belong to us!

Uh, well…okay then…

(Maybe we ought to forget about the Kobold population problem for a bit and start doing something about spaying and neutering - - - ’cause I really would like to sit in a chair someday :D)

With all the immaturity abundant in the game, maybe they think being able to sit in chairs would end up something like this:

And it would eventually look like this:

I think clearly the easiest way to be able to have all your chair belong to you, it to not have a cat. ;)

But I would really like to be able to sit in an in-game chair someday. After a particularly rough quest, my cleric might want to ease her aching bones in a chair and drown her irritations with a Dirty Kobold or two. :D

Nope, its because Merlask said that now that she can't make videos anymore no one is allowed to sit in chairs.

No no, really you all have it all wrong. If they made it so we could sit in the chairs, someone would complain that we couldn't move them where we wanted them.

And right after they fixed that the bars would be full of dwarves and ale, and we all know how that would turn out. I mean really can you imagine the bill for all the broken chairs? I know I would have to start at least one just to see all the halflings make a break for it.

Maybe if you could buy your own chair....:):p

Those are not chairs. They are fully living, thinking, sentient constructions - the pinnacle of Merrix d'Cannith's creations. They are the Chairforged. They are, by nature, happy and joyous creatures whose only intent is to bring mirth and merriment to the world around them. The music in the taverns? That's the song of their people...

To sit in one is a grave offense, and may spark a war between these creatures and the rest of the world.

Happy Chair is adorable and I can understand not wanting to upset them by not sitting on them.

But....how is standing on them less offensive? I mean really! Have you seen where we walk during our adventuring? I'm surprised they haven't already started a war.

Standing on them is not misinterpreted as an attempt to smother them.
Unlike that unfortunate encounter between the famed dwarven Bard Sir Mixxal Ot's lady friend and the Chairforged Ambassador Throne D'Ottoman... the construct barely survived close contact with her ample posterior. While it is agreed it was indeed an accident, and not an assasination attempt, since that time sitting on Chairforged has been expressly forbidden by most ruling bodies on Eberron.

Standing on them however, is still acceptable. It is, in fact, thought of as a fond greeting amongst friends by most Chairforged and not a murder attempt. Much like shaking hands among humanoids is a greeting as well as a visible show of not carrying weaponry for attack.

Now you see, if they added playable chairforged, I might be tempted to start playing again.
