View Full Version : Keybinding for DDO Store (possible bug?)

I use Control for my voice chat, and when I'm trying to maneuver my character in a dungeon and tap the S key while talking, do you know how annoying it is when the DDO Store decides to pop up and take up 80% of my screen.

I've changed the keybinding MANY times but every time I re-log into my client, it reverts back to CTRL+S. I've even tried to bind 2 keystrokes to it (I used CTRL+, and CTRL+.) and it always reverts one back to CTRL+S.

I have always used of my modifier keys for my voice chat, and I'd prefer NOT to change that key. I wouldn't have so much of a problem with this if the key bindings I set WOULD STAY IN EFFECT!

And before you tell me to use voice activation - I can't stand voice activation, or people that use voice activation (the ones who mouth-breathe into the microphone, or will remain dead silent and let out a ear-drum piercing cough at a random moment).

Buy more stuff so WAI

Other store 'hints' include 'Hide content I do not on' as default off and 'Show DDO Store Rewards' as default on and more recently 'Buy the Shared Bank' when closed will close the individual bank as well. :)

1. Keybindings are not staying as I set them, so not WAI.

2. I don't know what you're talking about regarding 'hints' as I turn them off the moment I create the characters. - This has nothing to do with the store itself, the keybinding (CTRL+S), which launches the store window, keeps resetting to default every time I relaunch the client, regardless of any previous settings.

3. I'm VIP - so I don't see the extra adverts that I used to as premium.

Let me try:

They won't change this, because they WANT you to accidentally open the store.

Also, if you die because the store opened and filled your screen and stopped your character from running and attacking and casting, you can buy a rez cake.

Is it that the key bindings reset or that it happens when you have your mouse over a ui element. I've noticed this sort of behavior with the r key, I swapped the middle mouse button and r key. When playing everything is fine, until i happen to have the mouse over a ui element, then the r key acts as autorun again. The same thing happened when binding store/myddo keys to F7 and the such, if the cursor was over the ui ctrl+s/m still worked to open them. Of course the rebound shortcuts still work as well but it seems they've hardcoded some settings somewhere.

Its rather annoying when you're standing near something dangerous, and you think you're panning the camera to view them better, when you randomly run headfirst into it.

Ok, playing around with my keymapping, I have figured out a workaround.

For the keys that you want unbound, bind it to two existing keys. So for the DDO store, bind it to 1 and then to 2. Next, bind the 1 and 2 keys back to what they need to be. Viola! DDO store is no longer bound!

Haven't looked into what is being saved to the keybind file, but I don't really care if this works.

Tested this with a complete close and re-start of DDO, and the keys remain unbound.

Thanks Phiinix! This has worked perfectly for me for months now.

Steps:
1. Open Options, Key Mapping.
2. Note 2 keys that you are using. I used W ("Move Forward") and S ("Move Backwards").
3. Set "DDO Store" to both of those keys: Click "DDO Store" in the Panels section, press W, click "DDO Store" again, press S.
4. Set those 2 buttons back where they belong: Click "Move Forward" and press W, click "Move Backwards" and press S.
5. Close the Options window. Close the game. Backup your My Documents\Dungeons and Dragons Online\ddo.keymap file in case this ever stops working.
6. (optional) Repeat for "MyDDO Browser" or any other default settings you want to remove.

FYI, this is what that does in my ddo.keymap file (don't know if you can just edit that directly for the same effect):
Deletes

WEBSTORE_SHORTCUT_KEY [ Old [ 0 DIK_S ] 0x00000002 ]
MYDDO_SHORTCUT_KEY [ Old [ 0 DIK_M ] 0x00000002 ]

Adds

DoNothing [ User [ 0 DIK_S ] 0x00000002 ]
DoNothing [ User [ 0 DIK_M ] 0x00000002 ]

You can also make the ddo.keymap file read-only so the game don't overwrite it.
