First off, this has very little to do with anything, and not much to do with the rest. That being said...
I would like to thank two of my guildmates (As well as a third, who was not present with us, but was a very large part of our run) for the most hilarious night I've spent since joining DDO. Let me explain...
I just recently bought the Shavarath pack so I could run with members of the guild I just joined, and to be able to try to get the wonderful loot that can drop there. So, last night, before the update, I was running around on my 17 ranger just to get a feel for the area and find the entrances to the quests. Ya know, to get familiar with the place so when they say "Hey, we're doing such-and-such quest, want in?" I can say "Sure, on my way" or something. Anyhow, 30k from level 18, and I ask if anyone in the guild could help me run some stuff so I could level before U7. A couple guys agree, and we attempt to run Genesis Point on normal. Three twf melee toons (A barb, fighter and ranger) and three cleric hirelings...let's just say that we failed. A lot (We got a bit silly, thus setting the stage for the rest of the night). After a while, we give up, one guy drops, and another guildie (FvS) joins. We decided to go run some Necro stuff for favor and so I can get my sigil done.
Once we get into Desecrated Temple of Vol, things started going awry right off the bat. Both the barb and myself died trying to get the keys, and eventually the FvS had to show us up. So we move on, the FvS teasing us about how fail and gimp we are. We drop down, kill the golems, and pull the lever. At which point, the FvS said "Hey guys, I'm going to zerg everything, so just kill it". Then they go flying off with their wings. Long story less long, we end up killing everything except one vampire priest. We then spend 5-10 minutes trying to find it, eventually following "the music" until we find it. Turns out, he had gone into the bat swarm and gotten glitched into a pillar. So we tell the FvS to Cometfall and Blade Barrier the pillar. No luck. Now, keep in mind that this was right before the update. To be precise, about 5 minutes until the servers shut down. Since we had spent a while running around trying to find the vampire, I just submit a ticket. After about a minute, a GM responds and kills the vamp off for us (Thank you for your quick response GMs!). Somewhere in the chaos, our FvS had decided to log out. With about two minutes left, the barb and I are stuck trying to beat down the honor guard (No easy feat, considering we were both down to about 10 str and had no firewall or other useful AoE to beat them down), screaming for the FvS to come back and help. FvS comes in, sets up a BB, throws a couple heals, and we finish the beatdown. Just as we're about to open the chest, the "The servers are now shutting down. Please find a safe spot to log off!" message comes up.
We got the chest and all quit just before the servers shut off. There was much rejoicing on Vent.
So, the moral of the story is, always, always, ALWAYS, get your loot. Because loot is good. Oh, and GM's can be good too.
And that's my story, long as it may be. Thanks guildies for a most enjoyable night.
