I went AFK in a Waterworks instance, and got killed. Because I was afk, a message popped up asking if I wanted to quit. For some reason, when I checked back again (after learning I was dead, I was still doing stuff, so I left it alone) I had one health, and the message. I hit 'no' and asked if keeping going would be taking advantage of a glitch. There was no response, so I kept going. I asked at least one more time if it would be taking advantage of a glitch, and there was no response. I died at the next dungeon up, so I figured it didn't really matter, but this is my question: Was I taking advantage of a glitch? And if so, what should I do about it?

Is it a glitch that you had 1 HP?
No. It might actually be that you were not dead. Characters can survive to -9 hit points. The are only really dead at -10. Anytime you are down with negative hit points there is a chance that you will stabilize. If you do you will slowly regenerate hit points until you recover -- ending with 1 HP.
You were probably just fortunate that the monster that found you standing around only hit you hard enough to knock you into the negative numbers without killing you. Thinking the danger over, the monster wandered off. Then you stabilized and recovered. So when you finally got back you were alive.

in DDO unlike other games ur allowed a neg 10 hp, the idea is once u hit 0 your knocked out.. now u make saving throws to try and stop the bleeding, and well since u cant be standing at 0 hp u have to make the saves and recover back to 1 hp.
in ur case as stated above u probably got lucky the mobs lost interest in you after u were knocked out and went back to there path points or spawn points. but as long as u don't drop below -10 hp u are still heal able and can recover.
and the feat to make sure that u always recover if u get knocked out is called Die hard.
though pending on the build this is nice and its not i dont use it on my char cause when i get hit its always for alot more then 10 hp.

Just some additions to the above answers:
You were not killed, but incapacitated. At this point, monsters treat you like you are dead, but they might still kill you "by accident" or by an attack that was coming to you before you got incaped.
When one doesn't have the Diehard feat (which always stabilizes him) he loses hit points over time from bleeding (1 at a time) until he's dead or makes a successful saving throw and stabilizes (gaining slowly hp, at the reverse of bleeding rate, regenerating, until he reaches 1hp and is back on his feet).
If there are others in the party, they can bring you up by either: ~~using the Heal (Repair for wf) skill (they might have to try multiple times) to bring you to 1 hp ~~using a spell/clickie on you that grants you temporary hp (like Rage or Aid, for example) ~~outright healing you

some more info on party members going incap
when dead their name will be red and a skull will pulsate on their class icon
when incap their name will be pink and no skull will pulsate.
if you give the incap player any healing magic (not the skill, that sucks), even if it leaves them in the negative still they will be automatically stabilised.
so its great to farm the korthos quests for clickies that offer healing to help save others from dying when they are just incap. nothing like a barbarian saving the cleric from bleeding to death!
if however your playing a class that has access cure spells you can get a cure light wounds wand for 90 plat in the market. its perfect for saving incap players as its only 1 backpack slot for 50 charges (unlike the korthos stuff thats 1 slot for 1 charge) and wont fail unless you're out of range or there is a wall in the way.
this stuff is good to learn even if you solo with a hireling, saving your hirelings butt is bound to happen at some point.
also if you die in a quest with other players DONT RELEASE! one important bit about being in a party is you dont need to get hit with the 10 EXP penalty for re-entering a quest (whole party looses the exp, not just you). your party (or your hireling) can pick up your soul stone and take you to a res shrine (its the red one that does naff all when you're trying to rest). oh and take a side step so you're not standing on your stone. its very hard to click through the player to get the stone when a hoard of orcs is trying to kill you, or you're taking a lava bath.
