View Full Version : Epic quests you would like to see

I am sure that there have been other threads about this, but I have not seen one recently (I am sure someone will post a link to one) but, even if one has been up not too long ago I am still interested in what the rest of the community would like to see made epic. We might even get some posts from people that have not shared their opinion yet, and that can be a good thing.
I would actually like to see several of the lower level quests made epic, like Proof is in the Poison (that would be a bear in epic), and I think the Sharn Syndicate would be interesting as well. The Epic versions of the nicked weapons could be pretty nice (hopefully).
And I definately think Tempest Spine and Stormcleave should be Epic as well.
I realize that the next major Epic content will most likely be Gianthold, and I am also looking foreward to that (Epic Madstone boots? *drool*) but it would be nice to have even more epic quests to choose from.
The discussion about how to change epics to be more widely embraced by the player base is a totally different discussion, one that needs to be expanded on at some point, but I really do not feel up to that right now :)

Kobold assualt - 200 angry little buggers with attitude....
Would be interesting if they picked an area (for example, the marketplace) and epic'd every quest

There are several harbor/market quests I'd like to see epic, though I doubt we'll see any f2p epics any time soon so I vote STK

I would rather that they did not continue the current idea of Epic where they just pump the monsters HP to 10x or more than they currently have and provide them with blanket immunities. But that they instead tried to figure out a way of providing high challenge quests that is not the same content just adjusted to make it take 10x longer to complete.

Strangely enough, I was about to post the same thing as the previous poster did. It would be nice to see an epic quest that was designed specifically to be epic, not just a rehash of an old quest.
If say, they decided to make "Kobalds new Ringleader" epic, there is absolutely zero new content involved, its the exact same quest everyone ran at Lv 3-ish, the only change is now the kobalds/spiders would have 50K HP each.
This rehashing, and the choice they made to change to the shard system instead of full tokens, really leaves a lot to be desired with epic level questing in my thoughts.

Maybe they could do something more akin to waterworks/invaders. They could reuse the same dungeon but give us some different encounters.

I hate grinding for epic tokens, so I vote Epic Defend Haverdasher.
The Haverdasher crouches in front of the door waiting.
From the harbor enter a group of adventurers, the third one today.
For the third time today he announces that he will be closing the door behind them as they enter and he will open it as soon as all it clear. "This looks like a hardy group" he thinks as they cast spells of protection them selves and charge onward.
For a time there is naught but silence. The Haverdasher begins to wonder if perhaps this time it will be different, if maybe, just maybe this group will... His musings are interrupted by a screaming from behind the door, it's a long, drawn-out painful yelping, the sound someone makes as they are facing imminent death and can do nothing to prevent it, nothing that is but wail at their doom. The scream is abruptly cut off by a wet thud.
From the locked room there erupts the sound of battle, steel striking steel, incantations of great power followed by a series of low thudding explosions a prayer to some god of light.
The roaring of a beast shakes the walls and floor as something new joins the battle. There is the sound of great claws rending flesh. "Blacktail" the Haverdasher thinks to himself "then they were not so hardy as I thought".
The sounds of battle die.
After a time the Haverdasher opens the door again and waits.
From the harbor enter a group of adventurers, the fourth one today...

Gianthold, Titan, Invaders, Tempestspine and last but not least Stormcleave.
Stormcleave is such an awesome quest would be nice to have a reason to go back. Same with Tempestspine. Invaders would be epic with all those beholders and demons and the rewards would be awesome. Gianthold and Titan just feel like they should have epics to so they can be like the other large areas and Raids.
Some epic single player quest would be a fun way to test skills at level 20.

Epic "Home Sweet Sewer" where dogs have 1HP, 1AC, -30 saves, don't save when they roll 20, etc. so they're the squishest thing in game, but have attack bonus of +120, striding +100%, can surround player, are bigger (and harder to jump above them), deals at least 10d6+60 damage/hit, got chance to trip, stun or cripple player, got TS, etc. The quest will be test to your HP and running speed/skill. And it is solo only, so noone can help you.
Epic "Stealthy reposesion" Where kobolds should be almost like dogs, but hitting for 5d6+20 damage, and get also FoM.

True that. As I said in another thread, go for an epic only quest that revolves around....wait for it...........
Slaying a Tarrasque.
The ultimate challenge in pnp, there could be no quest more difficult than this. No fooling around before you meet the beast; there is a before the Tarrasque shrine, nothing else. No puzzles, no trash mobs nothing. All you have to do is buff, shrine and defeat the toughest monster in the game. Indeed, it may be so difficult, that a dragon may have to swoop in when the Tarrasque is at half health to give the players a chance to use rest shrines (note that this should not be the dragon's motivation in-game, and the Tarrasque should totally pwn the dragon and eat it). No new loot would need to be created for this quest. Instead, have 1 chest for each other epic raid in the game. Each chest will drop a shard/scroll from a different epic raid.
No idea what the in-game story would be. Dreaming Dark are tired of your shenanigans, and decide to wake something up they've been suppressing for a long time now?
Other than that, epic Gianthold and Necro4 would be nice. Necro 1-3 are rubbish, but 4's got some real potential. I'd love to see Epic Circle of Hatred (Necro4 Raid) and Epic Jorgundal's Collar (Gianthold Tor)

ok - I still think the first epic "remake" should have been Waterworks!
for those who like punishment - epic The Faithful Departed
for those with a sense of humor - epic Bringing the Light
for those who really want a challenge - epic Made to Order
and for those who want an uncompleted quest in your list - epic Enter the Kobold
