Yes...get out of Korthos as quick as you can....as soon as you are leveled up enough to join Tear of Dhakaan, Gwylans Stand parties...get in those. You can level up quickly and get some nice lower level loot. Plus both of those quests are FTP.

Good armor will have to be obtained by loot pulls or shopping the AH.

As far as leveling guides there some on the forums here as well as the wiki site that AyumiAmakusa mentioned.

Just a very high level overview of great XP quests/chains to maximize your leveling.

Kobald's New Ringleader
Water Works chain
Shan-To Kor chain
Delara's Chain
Tear of Dhakaan
Gwylan's Stand
The Pit
Stormcleave
Vault of Night chain (VoN 3 and 5 in particular)
Shadow Crypt
Dreams of Insanity
Wizard King Quest
Gianthold quests
Vale Quests

When looking to speed level a character I run these quests alot.

Now I don't recommend this to a new player because alot of the other adventures are great even if they don't offer excellent XP rewards.

Also if you race to end game and are not prepared both skill wise and equipment wise you will find the higher level quests difficult and frustrating.

If you're just starting out, don't race to level 20. Take time to learn (and enjoy) the game and see what it's all about. It doesn't play like other MMOs you may be familiar with or like tabletop D&D so just because you might be an expert in one of those other areas does not mean you're an expert here.

Just do what everyone else does - run your first character to level 10, realize that after playing the game it's the opposite of what you would like to do, pike 1000 favor for veteran status and then start over with a level 4 character that doesn't seem braindamaged.

Search threads started by MrCow, and look into those that start with "Diaries". You'll see the XP/min of most quests in the game.

When you look at MrCows diaries and see it takes even a well geared veteran in the range of 80hours of _in_ quest play to get to cap don't get discouraged. First realize he's a TR and needs nearly double what a non-TR does. Second, realize it's supposed to be fun as you go. Third, note he isn't powerlevelling in many respects since he runs many low XP/min quests. Power levelers can get it done under 40hours (I have heard of but at 800xp per min I doubt) but really they are just freaks of nature.

Me...I took a year of play 2-3 days a week at 3-4 per session so somewhere in the 200-300hr range. But that was with lots of screwing around in the AH, waiting for LFMs to fill, capping the slayers in all the explorer areas etc....ie rookie mistakes from an XP perspective but still alot of fun.
