Okay, why would an epic docent have DR that doesn't stack with inherent Warforged DR? Seems like a bug unless I'm looking at this wrong.

DR doesn't stack. For DR you take the highest applicable DR to the attack and apply it.

For instance, if you were being shot with an arrow for 25 points of damage and you had:

DR 10/adamantine
DR 5/Epic
DR 3/slashing

this would not result in 18pts of damage being prevented. Instead, only the DR 10 would apply and you would take 15 pts of damage. It works a little differently for shield blocking though. For shield blocking I believe it takes your Shield DR + Feats + enhancements + Highest Applicable DR + BAB + STR/2 though I could be wrong. This would mean that a dwarven Stalwart Defender with DR 6/-, both shield masteries, the shield enhancements, Str 34, BAB20, and Levik's Defender would have a blocking DR of: 6 + 6 + 3 (?) + 6 + 20 + 15=56. Somehow that seems a little high, so it could actually be BAB/2, but shield blocking is the only case of any kinds of different DR "stacking" in this game. Normally, only the highest applicable DR is applied to any situation.

It is BAB/2 for active blocking and this indeed does work in addition to your native DR.

Your native DR is simply the highest possible singular value; not all of them added together.

Not all WF have inherent DR. You have to take feats/enhancements to get it. Also, the 5/epic could apply to things the DR/adamantine doesn't, and vice versa.

It's still a pretty nice docent, even without the DR. My Monk has 10/epic, but I might upgrade his Blademark Docent at some point. The slots would be handy, and Lifeshield is very nice. Complements DR quite nicely.
