Ok... heres a situation for you all. One i encountered on Khyber yesterday.

Noobwizard A, had alot of questions.... alot of *DUMB* questions, after answering about.... 25 of them... i directed him to come to the forums to check out class builds and for general usefull information. (he was Determined that a wizard needed Charisma as a stat, he was a Wiz, not a Sorc)

so after a few minutes of him still sending me "/tell (me) dumbquestion" and me just ignoring it and continuing on... he starts going in general Chat.

I KNOW YOUR THERE! I need help still!! COMEON!!! and so on.... eventually i just squelched him.

Now this wasnt a person who was outright vicious... but i just didnt want to deal with him anymore.

Any thoughts?

Teachers get paid.

At that time, had somone glued a big neon sign "DDO NEWBIE HELPER, ASK ME ANY QUESTION!" to your back?

If not, you did the right thing. Annoying children too lazy to search the forums don't deserve any better imo

With the Devs themselves advocating (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=278526) we squelch early and squelch often, so I'd say you did just fine.

How annoying.. Sounds like you met a young kid.

Back when Korthos was new I had someone send me a tell asking how to get to the harbour.
After spending a few moments explaining I ended up just running to Korthos to point to him the NPC he needed to speak to. Instead of a thanks for helping he then asks for 30k plat
From then on I lost my faith in helping low level newbies (or in this case noobies).

Wasn't which quote to bring forth:

"Squelch first; Ask questions later."

or

"Squelch em from orbit..."

:p

Sounds like you went above & beyond already, Lego. I deem that to have been a fair squeching. I've done the same a few times in the past year when some clingy munchkin grabs my leg and won't let go.

It just upsets me because i dont like squelching new players... and I generally go out of my way to help new players... even if it costs me play time on the char i actually want to play on. (ive logged onto a new toon of mine to help someone reroll, and stay'ed with em to level 4.... in one sitting)

But when your a newb and asking for advice why would you argue with the person giving you the advice?! thats what gets me riled up... you asked ME for help... lol.

Im trying to explain that Wizards... have almost NO need for charisma... and its commonly a Dump stat for wizards... and hes saying "Oh no, i dont belive that, i need Charisma for Charm person, and haggle, and bluff..." (this is where i groan loudly)
