Hey All,
Thought I would just post here instead of in general.. because.. non cannithites would probably start *****ing about this.
I moved from Devourer in EU in December 2009, at first I was filled with Trepidation because I dont know many americans and yes I probably came to the US servers with television based stereotypes ingrained in my brain.
*You mean you dont all talk like Magnum PI?*
*What all the girlies dont run around wearing red swim suits?*
;)
Some thoughts..
1) Cannith has totally rocked.
2) I would say I have better groups and more fun on cannith then I ever did on devourer.
3) More helpful and less patronising advice being given on (advice channel)
4) Massively more players to meet and make friends with.
5) Variety is the spice of life, the massive variety on cannith makes every pug interesting, regardless of success or failure.
6) some nights I almost need to go to A&E from laughing so much.. tons of crazy funny characters on the server
Gripe
1g) My only gripe is that very occasionally you see discussions in general chat that have obviously been dragged from party chat with the intention of attacking another player.. there is no need for this just disagree and move on with your lives.
But forget my gripe.. what do you find great about calling Cannith your home?

I find "Platinum Knights" great, and I'd probably change servers if I hadn't met these guys.

I like Cannith, its a good server.
Unfortunately, you'll still see some of the awkward moments in all the chats, and I think thats a problem no server is protected against. It's just life. But other than that, the only problem I have in that server is at higher levels, you hardly see LFG's for epic and some high leveled stuff. It is there, of course, but pretty rare to see. Anything beyond normal is even more rare for some things(I.E.: Hard or Elite shroud[Which I have never seen yet] hard or elite Shavarath quests). I say the origin of this problem mostly comes from the low population, the rest is a whole bunch of mixed aspects.
But its definitely good for casual players(such as myself), and if you find a good clan, its good for the expert and hardcore players as well.

I have not spent too much time on other servers, so cannot really say either way. I have only been in 2 guilds on cannith. One was doombrigade and for the most part, the people that were in it were awesome. I then went to PK, and they have been amazing.
I pug more than I would say the average person does that belongs to a large guild, and so I get to party with a pretty large variety of people. I have pretty tough standards for the types of people I party with, and to be honest the amount of people I have on my ""never group with" list can be counted on less than one hand. Even the "elitest" guilds on cannith are still pretty awesome IMO.
I see some of the stuff posted on the other server forums and I kind of chuckle. we have it pretty good here if those posts are an indication of those servers.
On a side note, bummed you had to leave PK man, but I understand. It was rad having you around whenever I wanted to party with ya :)

Cannith only has a small handful of people that run endgame raids and epics, and those generally fill fast.
Honestly, the problem seems to be with leadership. There are only a few willing to organize and run things, so those runs fill fast. Whenever anyone without a reputation for running epics and raids tries to start one up, nobody will join it because they are looking for an easy completion with someone they know. Some of the former server-top guilds have died out, or are in the process of dying out, because of the same issue.
I am known for my rants on how it is nearly impossible to get anyone to run anything epic that isn't a raid, von1, or oob. It's pretty sad that most of my epic runs have been done 3-manned because nobody else would join due to them being perceived as "too hard" or "too long," or whatever random reason they have for complaining of being bored and nothing happening all day, then refusing to leave their safe-happy-place and try something new.
Epic DQ1? 2-manned it w/o potspam in under 2 hours. 3-manned it a few times in about 1.25-1.5 hours usually.
Epic Chains of Flame? 3-manned regularly in around 60-70minutes, arcane usually uses one rest statuette to avoid pot usage.
Fens epics, House P epics, House D epics? 3-manned most in under an hour without issue, with the exception being Partycrashers due to the lack of skills for avoiding the 50+ mob end fight with 5 or 6 bosses.
Perhaps some day people will eventually get tired of the usual boring normal raid cycle and try something more challenging and new :v

I don't have a permanent "home server" but Cannith is one of my favorites.
It's like the server you go to to learn how to play the game.
I swear there must be vets logging on there just to teach people how to run quests, set up a bar and screen, how to build characters and best of all, there is almost no fighting amongst players. Someone must have cast a permanent happy spell on it.
The occasional people fighting just fell into a weak spot of happy.

Cannith is one of those "little secrets" only the people who live there will know about. It's probably one of best servers in terms of friendliness and over casualness. If, however, you are looking for a hardcore "I WANT MY ESOS NOWZ?!!" then Cannith may not be the server for you. (I havent seen anyone with a eSoS around anywhere on that server).

The rare few times I've seen "Into the Deep" on epic the groups have filled up. I'm always up for red fens epics. Especially Into the Deep or Claw of Vulkoor. So if you need a decent geared barb, you got one here.
As for the OP, the thing I think makes Cannith awesome is the attitude of the playerbase here. Less ego, less bs and the players are more helpful.

i am glad to hear that. I have played a little on all server but not enough to have a relevant opinion.
when you read chat or even forum, you often get the impression that all servers are in perpetual open war with always the same topic (QQ the cleric took my item - QQ the cleric cant heal - QQ i hate pugs - QQ i hate noob) but the reality of the server is different, and i know we have a core of greatly exprienced and still helpfull players that contribute to that.

I was in plat knights until recently. They are a great bunch.
Cannith is great as long as you stay out of gen chat in the harbor and low level pugging. I've never played much on the other servers, so I don't have anything to compare.
As far as end content: people do it all the time, just with others that they know.
So if I want to run epic, or elite shroud, or whatever, the first thing I am going to do is see how many guildies want to join. So if an LFM goes up at all, its probably going to already be mostly full. I think this is how most end game content is run.
The way to do end game content is to join either a large guild, or a guild full of people focused on end game stuff.
Cheers,

Also I have found that just getting your name out there helps a lot. I try to do as many guild runs as I can, but sometimes there just is not one happening. Having pugged a bit though, I find that I can check in with a few other guilds and pretty easily attach myself to something fun. You do not have to be a part of epic only guilds to be in those runs. Being known by them, helps though. To do that, you have to get out and make friends with others :)
Take X here. I totally have a free spot in X's backpack any day. easy :)

We have 2 people in our guild with them ... only 20 people in our guild. I have seen plenty but mainly in the largest top tier guilds.

Olemisst, not sure if Kaaaaarl got his shard before his TR, at least 2 Guardiani members (probably more) and I'm pretty sure more than 2 Ordo Draconis members have that. Also, I know of 2 players that just need the scroll to craft it :).
And that is only the players playing at EU times, no idea what goes on on our server at prime US times :)
Quite a few epics happen on Cannith, but most of them are not pugged (you know that, sometimes its better to shortman than get certain players in your party) - even less pugs pop up lately, because a few guilds merged and do not find the need to pug anymore. Still, that is one of the things I enjoy on our server - you can pug pretty much anything you want with decent chance of success(well, some runs are more successful than others :) ). I've pugged every epic except VoNs 3-5 and DQ1, mostly because I need nothing from the VoNs and people are normally on timer for DQ1. I'd really love to do the house D ones again, since I've only done them a few times, but with the bugged drop rates most people can't really be bothered with pirate/zombies or A Small Problem.
