Dex?

Was wondering what the recommened dex is for a str based tempest ranger? Am building one soon an am wondering how my build should look, in the dex department :)

Ok but if i start with a 11, or 12 dex, what would my reflex save for evasion look like, that is the real question...............

Actually, I think the real question is: "Would having 20 dex and +5 reflex save be better in the long run than having 11 or 12 dex and +0 or +1 to my reflex save, compared to everything I lose to get that +5?"

I believe the answer is: "Nope. It wouldnt be better. Easier to go without a cheap tome, maybe, but not better."

If, after making your strength and con as high as possible and getting dex to 11 or 12 or 13 you see you have room to play with a few points, awesome. If not...well...no real loss for most strength builds.

15 Starting for Human. Rangers can get good AC and reflex saves so don't dump it.

Yeah, I'd say 12-16 for the most part, depending on race and whether or not dex is a key stat for your Ranger build.

Either way, that 4 point spread (which will translate to +2 AC and +2 reflex) is not very likely to make or break your build.
With all of the buffs at endgame and uber gear, even a starting Dex of 12ish will give you a reasonable saving throw at endgame.

And if you're after AC, splashing monk and picking up combat expertise will be *far* more beneficial to you than devoting an extra couple of starting points into dex (which, let's be honest, is probably only going to be a +/- 2 ac difference).
