Rogue would be my opinion. You get sneak attack damage, evasion, and with 6 levels of ranger you shouldn't have a problem keeping UMD, Search, and Disable Device maxed out as long as you alternate your ranger levels with fighter levels.

Rogue. The benefits will always be there, instead of being limited to just two short-duration rages. Rogue also lets you put full ranks into UMD, and gives you a little bonus sneak attack damage. It's clearly the superior choice for a 2-level splash.

To be fair, Barbarian would include more than just two short term rages... 10% running speed is a reason many people have splashed a single level. Also you get Barbarian Power Attack I, automatic +1/-1 when using Power Attack.

Granted, it's not much and Rogue is still a better choice, just wanted to point out that Barbarian does have some other meritable reasons.

I prefer rogue 2 - or, if you don't care about UMD or trap skills, monk 2 - Evasion alone makes it worthwhile, IMHO.

It depends on the build. I ended up doing a barbarian splash on a character with the same class split, because I didn't feel like I would have high enough dexterity to make evasion worthwhile. Plus, I wanted an excuse to wear mithral full plate. lol

Splashing barb and making it work is a little difficult unless your build is really surviveable on it's own. I'd say 2 levels of rogue if you want Evasion, Trap, and locks. 2 levels of monk if you just want evasion and maybe a few bonus feats that come in handy every now and then.

Just saying, rogue 2 also gives evasion, not just monk, and that makes it sound like only monk does. Monk does have other good points too though, I'm not ripping on monks (feats, AC).
