This is a response to whoever recently asked me why I would run a raid over 85 times.

Each raid tends to have an item with a property which can not be found elsewhere or is just helpful (epic items not included). These pieces of loot are what keep many of us running the same old raid every 3 days (besides hunting for tomes). The following is a list of raids and loot which I would consider unique and/or useful to many players.

A Vision of Destruction (18) - Basically for the fire shield guard.
Bracers of the Glacier - (Bracers) Glacial Assault, Spell Penetration VIII, Archmagi, Fire Shield(Cold)

[B]Ascension Chamber (17) - +1 to all stats! Sp regen item. (Might consider staff & ring too)
Litany of the Dead - (Trinket) Exclusive, Turn the Page (CL:12, 3/rest), Litany of the Dead - Ability Bonus, Taint of Evil, Litany of the Dead - Combat Bonus
Vile Blasphemy - (Gloves) Power Drain (CL:12, 3/rest), Dexterity +6, Use Magic Device +3 [ML:13, BTC]

[B]Hound of Xoriat (18) - Healing amp 20% stacks w/10 & 30% bonuses. (might consider shield for panacea clicky)
Levik's Bracers - (Bracers) Levik's Defender, Healing Amplification 20%, Strength +6

[B]Plane of Night (10) - FoM helps! As does a Restoration clicky.
Kundarak Delving Boots - (Boots) Freedom of Movement, Move Silently +5
Hammer of Life - (Weapon) +4 Maul, Natural Armor Bonus +2, Heal +10, Repair +10, Restoration (1/rest) [BTC]

[B]The Reaver's Fate (14) - Held mob beater and a good luck bonus item.
Dreamspitter - (Weapon) +5 Quarterstaff, Greater Evil Outsider Bane, Life Stealing, Greater Enchantment Focus, Suppressed power
Head of Good Fortune - (Trinket) Good Luck +2, Moderate Fortification [BTC]

[B]The Titan Awakes (12) - Named striders and an amazing umd bonus.
Gyroscopic Boots of Striding - (Boots) Balance +10, Striding +30% (named striders are cool)
Seven Fingered Gloves - (Gloves) Disable Device +11, Open Lock +11, Use Magic Device +5, Arcane Casting Dexterity [BTC] (many characters use umd)

[B]Tower of Despair (20) - Set bonuses depend.

Zawabi's Revenge (12) - Regen clicky removes disease and poison. (+ Torc)
Pouch of Jerky - (Trinket) Eat Jerky (CL:10, 3/rest), Greater False Life, Heal +11 [BTC]
Bramble-Casters - (Gloves) Greater Spearblock, Thorn Guard [BTC]

And this is why I hate this game a bit. People roll on things that are not primarily meant for their class (or should I say character type) just because it has one useful property. They don't care about the big picture.

Flame on.

Two letters for you:

TR.

Who knows what someone will reincarnate into for the next life of their characters? Heck, my sorcerer who has a titanic docent* might be TRing into a warforged her next life, because of it, among other reasons. Saying that it's not caring "about the big picture" might actually be the big picture for their characters, or, even for this life, perhaps it's the only slot that they can fit something into.

In the end, You pull it, it's Your loot. If you don't want someone who you don't think can really use it to roll, tell them "I only want (x class) to roll, but I'm putting it up"; if someone else beats you out on a roll because the person who pulled it doesn't care who gets it, then, sorry, it wasn't your day. This goes double in a pug, when, especially now with the huge influx of players, you very possibly might not ever run with half those people again at all.

*As a disclaimer, there were no WF in the group, this was before TR, and no one wanted it. =p

Not necessarily unique attributes, but extremely useful, is Tharnes Goggles, which are useful to any melee focused build.

Head of Good Fortune - (Trinket) Good Luck +2, Moderate Fortification [BTC]

The Dreamspitter is BTA now? When did that happen?

Reaver's Fate - Madstone Boots ~ pretty good to most Meleers which is why I scratched my head (just a lil) when the pure caster rolled and looted a pair.... I know he could melee, but after My DDO'ing him. I think it was clear he'd never felt blood on a weapon. just saying.

- the Napkin is pretty neat for wizzies

VoN - Um I've heard speak of this really awesome Sword.

disagree. What I hate is when people tell me what I should take and what I shouldn't. If loot was primarily for another class it'd say "Bard only" or "Wizard only" " or "Fighter only." Whats great about ddo is that you can take some gear and turn it into something usefull for any type of build.

I hate seeing the Glacial Bracers wasted on a Wizard or Sorc, when they are so much better on a Barbarian (or other non-UMD melee).

All the Sorc gets is a terrible version of Tevli's Sash (if they have the set) and spell penetration they can get elsewhere - the Barb gets the handsdown best defensive guard in the game, and it's the third best offensively as well (only Incineration and Lightning Strike guards do more damage, many foes are immune to some or all of these).

Henrieta, well put

- Hound: Both shields rly, the DR alone is just amazing for arcane/divines/rangers/pallys to block up some Torc/CO SP or for a guardfixated Barb/Fighter to finish off one pesky critter while needing to drink up or just to stall a mob for almost indefinate amounts of time. Or for a main tank ofc, cough :D

Dilbon, Dont forget that barring Epics stuff which are for rolls if they are, period, then regular raid items have a 20th completion table where you can get anything you want, as long as youre not too unlucky longterm. Though this is a truth with modifications, as its very possible to be unlucky 5-6 times in a row on rare items, so 120 raids could be neccesary depending on how bad you want that item.

I have a divine caster that has 11 raid items, "meant for other classes", 10 of those were looted in 20th completion tables and after 100 raids, those tables were all i would count on and I only ever looted ONE item, that others could want badlier than me, and that dropped directly for me in the chest so i took it cause i could use it well(Chat ring).

If you just go into regular raids with the mindset that it doesnt matter what drops, as long as we complete and ppl were happy about the raid's flow, then just wait for the 20th completion and take any lucky drop or lucky roll on something you actually want badly(and only that) as a bonus. It feels so much better to have won something unexpected than to lose something that "was suppose to be mine".
