Shintao TOD set

Not trying to start a flame war (/cue Dark monks throwing an absolute fit when they see this), but as per Lamannia updated notes from 09/29 (today):

* The Shintao Monk set from the Tower of Despair has been updated: “"This item is one of two pieces of the Shintao Monk set. When both items are equipped you will gain a +2 exceptional bonus to hit and damage. If you have the Shintao Monk 3 Enhancement, your unarmed attacks bypass Good and Evil damage reduction."


So Shintao monks using fists and the ToD set will now bypass good, evil, magic, lawful, adamantine, byeshk, silver, and cold iron.

Very impressive!
Let's hope future Ninja Spy modifications will even the playing field somewhat, as it feels as though the pendulum is now swinging in favour of Light once again.

Bypassing good is worthless because you can craft holy burst on this very ring. Bypassing evil is useful in Running with the Devils and that's it.

Yea like plant mods for weapons LOL.

It is a pretty pointless ability right now... Even then myabe craft unholy burst ring (if possible)

Maybe I'm still a noob, but wouldn't using the Shintao set w/ Shintao 3 allow you to put exceptional str on a ring instead of holy burst or is holy burst still needed to keep up on dps?

Yes, you could do that and still bypass DR. Though like you implied, you would lose a lot by not having holy burst on a ring.
